I wear a men's 16 (technically a 15.5), and my local Target has stripey and/or argyle socks that are super stretchy and fit without completely cutting off circulation. Although they are about $3 a pair and do seem wear out quickly.

Probably not that long (unless you are quite short). The socks that I had almost go up to my calf. They are more "business" type socks. Serious business. So, they are more traditionally colored (brown/light brown, black/dark blue, etc.). It's been a while, so I don't know if they would have them anymore anyway.
