what's with the "This message has been submitted successfully, but it will need to be approved by a moderator before it is publicly viewable. You will be notified when your post has been approved." when we post there?
can that be changed? or is it standard for the shark tank?

Hey iPhones aren't horrible for recording, they can get the job done if placed correctly.

These just had a huge price drop so I ordered one the other day...can't be any worse than the built in mic. I'll report back with my findings after messing around with it some.

I have the actual tascam handheld recorder those mics are from and they are damn handy for field recordings, great score! Too bad they won't work on my iPhone 5.... wait I have the handheld recorder

I like most of the iPhone recordings, but it just sounds flat on my vocals. So often that I came home after a rehearsal with great singing and it sounded horrible on the recording. Meh.

Good to know the full device functions well, I was especially stoked on the built-in limiter. Hopefully this thing will streamline my bands practice methods and save a few riffs from being lost in the smoke of a jam past.

If the limiter is anything at all like my H-4N it will be a life saver, its completely transparent no squish or choppyness at all. It should definitely help out, I don't know the sample rates of the recordings so its hard to say how good it will sound but it should be better then just the phone.

Yeah doesn't have to be amazing quality or anything(Greg from Brainoil will be handling our full recordings) but needed something to get him some good representations of what we are going for and also to the artist to conceptualize the art. Very excited about the art this time around, basically gave the artist full freedom to conceptualize a new logo, front, back and inside just based on the music alone so hopefully this will help provide enough of the "experience" to inspire some wicked stuff.

I know exactly where your coming from, this should produce a recording decent enough to accomplish those goals. Just remember you can't control levels post recording so you have to do a couple test recordings to hear what needs to be turned up or down. As much as it sucks you or the bassist may need to turn down to get a good recording.

It's all about mic placement, try LOTS of spots. On the ILF comp. I put in a song that was recorded with one sm57 and it sounds great.
