:hello:
Well, here's the official word, so everyone can stop arguing and get back to more fun, more interesting discussion...

First, glad y'all are here.

This is a pretty great idea, honestly.

if the regulars in here dont like me posting about my own stuff I will not post my stuff here. However i dont want to get a shark tank page here either way. People can let me know.

new05002 wrote:I try to balance out the posts about my stuff by also posting other things and or helping people with their problems and or whatever arises. I dig that as a builder there is always a thought they hey this dude is just spamming the forum here for buyers so I can dig that idea some people might get. If someone has an issue, just let me know in a professional way.

Answering questions isn't spam...it's really cool of you to be here and accessible for that.
But posting stuff like this, is:
new05002 wrote:Going to drop some prices on stuff I have for sale, add PP fees to these prices.

Fac Off Ver2 $100
Badascan #002 $125
Subdecay FBomb: $90
Crybaby Wah Classic (True Bypass) $60

And I don't know of a forum that wouldn't clamp down on that, or we'd have a flood of builders posting stuff like that every chance they get.

Which is why we came up with the Shark Tank forums, where--for a TINY fee--builders can post and discuss what they have available.
It's more organized, and more effective. (You can even link to your Shark Tank forum from your signature, so every time you post anywhere in the forum, you're linking to your own discussion section. So you have your availability and prices, always a click away, rather than buried in a long thread.)

Letting someone circumvent that isn't fair to guys who chip in a few bucks AND keep their spam in the proper areas.

new05002 wrote:if the regulars in here dont like me posting about my own stuff I will not post my stuff here.

It's not up to the regulars in here...it's general forum-wide policy stuff.

People can freak out at me, but honestly, this is the least moderated gear board I know of. And hopefully you're all enjoying that.

new05002 wrote: i dont want to get a shark tank page here either way.

The way I see it, it's the price of doing business here.
But you don't have to get a Shark Tank.
It's always free to link to your business in your signature.
It's always cool to answer people's general product questions, but if you're getting into price and availability, take it to PMs.

Aiit. Carry on!

And please, carry on...don't debate whether I'm right or wrong, or whether Dunwich spammed or didn't. IT'S NOT A BIG FUCKING DEAL.

No one is bashing on Nick we all appreciate his presence here but we have a shark tank for a reason. There are lots of great builders here that don't post their products out side of their tank. They help with the costs of running this place in exchange for their own place. It also makes ILF possible.
Edit: this thread is too fast and Tom is awesome

If he doesn't want to do it then he shouldn't have to do it. He has never come off as you should buy my shit and is always helpful with other people doing their stuff. He has already been a tremendous help with the amp I am beginning to put together. I think he always posts the pics as "hey this is cool" rather then a marketing tool, which seems to be the reason for the rules. It is one dude making stuff on the side while he is doing school. I undertand the desire for the doom room people to expand and be part of the larger community but this doesn't seem to be the way to do it. This may not have been started in malice nor anything said to deride but the vibe I get from this "encouragement" is kinda negatory.

It kinda feels like a group of guys are chilling over at a side table in a bar having a good time. Then some of the folks of the rest of the bar come over and say that you guys only hang out in this corner doing your thing and thats not cool. You should hang out with everyone in the bar equally like over at the darts, the pool tables, video poker etc. But staying over in this corner is wrong. And you, talking about that needs to be done over there only. Meanwhile a drunk dude is running around showing his starfish dick to everybody in an obnoxious manner. I mean I am new here, I had only been lurking until the majority of the doom room moved here from HC, and I am sorry if I am steeping out of line, but thats how I see it. I understand the forum has a set of guidelines but I didn't really see any need for it on this occasion.

And so to make due for my rant I present you guys the streaming link for Zozobra's new album: http://lambgoat.com/features/68/Zozobra ... bum-stream

Edit: Sorry was typing my post while the official word went up.

crohny wrote:I understand wanting to keep to site rules about the spamming policies and posting shit you are looking to sell but to be honest this is a different situation. Nick's post's don't come off that way to me at all. His presence in the DR is one of the reasons I even bother with the internet and talking about guitar shit. It's one dude making rad shit out of his home. He charges far less than a mass produced PCB amp and you get something a million times better. He also brings a wealth of knowledge to the table along with a keen ability to shit on me at any given moment. If his posts are deemed to be spamming from this day forth then the DR is truly dead haha.

Sorry, man, but all the people in the Shark Tank I know are just that, awesome dudes that run a business out of their houses or trying to start one up. And, much more importantly, the dude that runs this place, Tom Dalton, is the exact same kind of guy. One bloke that builds fuzz pedals that lots of people enjoy and that is a funny, courteous, stand-up dude that pays for this whole shebang. Setting up a Shark Tank means helping Tom pay for this forum that is a great resource, and a lot of potential customers if you build good product which I am sure Dunwich does.

Tom out-typed me.

I know I'm new here and don't contribute in a major way, but I wouldn't consider Nick's build related posts spam for any and all of the previous stated reasons. This is a gear forum right? I just feel like, seeing as its usually a bunch of like minded people hanging out in the doom room, Nick being one of them, people are going to want to know what's lurking around the corner gear wise. It's why we're here isn't it? To suss the gear poon? It's the same as the guys that post their tunes, it's a sneak peek at what's going on for them that they can share with other like minded people. I'm not trying to rail against the rules, I know there has to be moderation, but it just seems like this thread was cruising along nicely until the "Spamspamspam" comment was dropped.

Just sayin...

Also, I cant remember who it was that mentioned vocals, but those zen of screaming DVDs or whatever they're called are actually quite helpful. I know they're a little oriented towards those metal core kids but the method taught is pretty effective, and safe for your voice. I used to do vocals for our band, could scream my ass off for four hours and be cool afterwards. Smoking doobies. used to dry me out and give me the croaks though. It's mostly about being able to control a large amount of air, engaging your diaphragm and deep core muscles and maintaining control over pitch by doing less work with your vocal chords and more work with those other parts of the process. It's an easy technique once you learn how it feels.

Also, surf blue guitars is cool. Totally change the pickups. Anyone use those pike signatures lace sensor do?

Noted. On a side note, you playing much these days? I remember you saying you were kind of falling out of love with guitar and in love with guns. That happened for a little with me(with photography instead of guns) but now I've been enjoying playing guitar more than ever - it's like I came back with a vengeance.

I am playing more than i was a few months ago. Still not jamming with anyone tho. Its kinda become more of a time thing now. My wife works nights, so i have to be home by a certain time cause of the kids. Ive also started hitting the gym and trying to get a bit fit. So that is taking up most of my evenings. Ive made it a thing now tho that i have to play for at least 20 mins a day.....be it a simple riff here and there or learning a song. Ive taken almost a whole year off.
