I actually like Nick but, yeah - his insane knob-twisting-noodling doesn't really help understand the pedal at all.

In a band setting, I'm very much down with what he's doing. On his own though, it's a bit too random for me.

I spent about 5 minutes on the Tensor... seemed pretty cool, but goddamn that area of Hall E was super noisy so I couldn't really get the full grasp of what was happening/coming out of the speakers.

I tried the Rubberneck and the Freqout, the latter being my favorite new thing at the show. Meris didn't have a booth so I didn't get to see / try the Ottobit Jr. -

Also got to demo all the Chase Bliss pedals, great stuff... Joel is such a nice guy too - I'm looking forward to getting 2 or 3 at some point.

I'm liking the TWA Dynamorph in this clip (skip to around 3 mins).

Sounds particularly nasty on guitar and the envelope feature is really appealing.

They should make nick Reinhardt expression pedals for entire boards. True random. A nick kneeling over your stuff twisting like crazy, sometimes throwing a chord in with his offset and then looking back at you, smiling like "duck yeah right?!" While you're just trying to play.

Red Panda was also promoting the other Nick demo guy, so he'll get to wank on camera to it as well. I'm probably in the minority, but I find him dull too. A preachy, bootleg Mr. Rogers with his fake humble messages in videos then turns around and rants like a smug dick in forums/social media. Always putting people down and then bragging about how he gigs so his shit don't stink. Plus the constant shaky bobblehead thing combined with the tired blues/ice pick white boy "funk" licks are  .

You say it like it's a bad thing.

I mean, I dislike a lot of demo:ers, but I don't hate nick really. Of course it's mostly random, but given the pedals he demos it's mostly on the crazier side of things. He represents one type of use, and the vast majority will be "how can I use this really interesting pedal in the least inspiring way possible?". Well, maybe not our ILF natives but loads of demo:ers do.

^ I totally get what you're saying, but the few times I've seen/heard Reinhardt - he can't seem to let each new setting breathe and lets his camera mugging influence his tweaking more than the actual music. Our very own Eivind takes a similar approach with the "randomness" and I feel is much more successful since each quick cut has something interesting and creative to say.

But, honestly, who gives a shit wot I think. Props to anyone who gives voice to things I wouldn't otherwise get to hear (living in the middle of fucking nowhere.) :)*

Your commitment to ducking is really working for me. It does not go unappreciated or unnoticed.

I quickly got bored of JustNick because his demos were always insanely long and tended to sound like he was always playing the exact same thing every time throughout every demo.
I haven't paid attention to his online presence, but I've heard similar claims as yours. :idk:

Ha, I haven't witnessed the forum smugness—he seems alright in the comment sections of his vids. I always thought he was sort of an endearing geek, but I totally agree that GOD DAMN his vieos drag on way too long. I find myself constantly thinking GET TO THE POINT, AND CUT YOUR NOODLING DOWN TO A COUPLE MINS.

There's no reason a demo vid needs to be 18 minutes long, 16 minutes of which are just aimless jamming.

I like JustNick. He has a calming presence. Sure, a bit too heavy on the noodle, but overall he's a very enjoyable demoer to watch.
