Nothing after Red.
I mean, Blue had its moments but it was the beginning of the downhill.

That was what I figured. I was pretty bummed by Red after First, Second, and the split, but it had some pretty good jams. A friend played me some songs off of Blue and I pretty much had a WTF is this reaction. Kylesa never wrote a better song than 110° Heat Index. Maybe I should move this back to unpopular opinions or maybe I am right...

Maybe instead of listening to Kylesa and Baroness you should listen to this hot fire instead.

There are many things people should listen to instead of Kylesa and Baroness, but this is great. Thanks.

new albums i've enjoyed this year...
jazzy stuff: Steve Coleman's 'Synovial Joints', Matt Mitchell's 'Vista Accumulation', Ben Monder's 'Amorphae', the Tomeka Reid Quartet album, the Sakata/O'Rourke/Merzbow/Chikamorachi double LP, Stephen Haynes's 'Pomegranate', Chris Pitsiokos - 'Gordian Twine'
////
noisy, weird rock: Aleuchatistas - 'Arrebato', Upsilon Acrux's 'Sun Square Dialect', Battles 'La Di Da Di', Serious Beak "Ankaa", JOBS - 'Killer BOB sings' (the vocals on this one kinda grate on me a little, though), Kowloon Walled City 'Grievances', Elephant9 w/ Reine Fiske 'Silver Mountain', Gnarwhal 'Shinerboy'

Grief is soooo good. It reminds me of Odd Nosdam. Little bit of Quicksand by Noah23 too. Claustrophobic headphone hip hop.
King Kunta is only better in my head because I'm still just an idiot who loves to dance.

Listening to Fear Factories Genexus and got to say it's one of the best metal albums of the year. I haven't heard a Fear Factory this good since Obsolete. I am impressed.

BTW, based on a couple of y'all liking my list and some additional love when I posted it on the Bookface, I finally got around to something I've been meaning to do for a while... setting up a place for writing a little more seriously/regularly about music I like.

Check it out if you wanna. I highlighted some particular faves from my 2015 list, and I'll be updating it regularly.

I pretend I'm a rock critic all the time, but can I do it... on a schedule?
