I think I'll own everything from MI one day. They just make the coolest stuff.
I am so excited to watch this video. Gassing for a Warps so badly, but sadly it's not very high up on my list of modules I actually 'need'

Sweet! It's only available from the two output jacks, so you can patch one CV out and still keep the audio if you stay mono. Extra VCAmmo. The CV ins can also take audio, and be patched to the stereo mixer submodule.
One Aira = never need another audio input module. Two or more = never need an output module either.

I bought a Werkstatt and CV expander for real cheap via Black Friday (~$200 for the pair) and now I want to take this as the opportunity to start a small (yeah.... :erm:) euro rig. Where would you go if you were me? A VCO? Basic utility stuff first -- output, mixer? My interests are largely in ambient and drone stuff and I'd like to be able to process the Werkstatt as well as eventually guitar. I'm on Muff Wiggler now and reading nonstop.

Holy shit, best europedal!

A Roland module will help you figure out what you want and need, and always be a powerful utility box. A Make Noise or Mutable Instruments module will provide that first true hit of the pure eurocrack, and this purchase has already prepared you for that, and equipped you with the pipe and torch. :excellent:

Hey, Warpsmash, what do you think about using the Scooper as a tabletop guitar device? Practical, easy, awesome? Or is it something which works better with a modular?

Werkstatt just came (THANK YOU AMAZON PRIME). Holy shit. This thing is fucking incredible and I've barely played with patching. So worth the $160. I've played with monotrons and the like and this just seems leagues beyond in terms of sound and building quality. Ahhhhh. I'm giddy. Now what can I sell to start moving onto Eurorack...

Practical - Reasonably, for working with pedals. Much more practical with eurorack though. You just need instrument to modular cables, or adapters, to use it with regular gear. Modulating parameters with CV is best handled in the modular realm, since it's one of the best things about eurorack, but you can get the same results by hand with the knobs, or internal patching. I don't know if an expression pedal straight into one of the CV jacks would work, haven't tried it yet. The involvement of the customizer app is probably not practical for everyone. More of a personal preference. If you don't mind it for things like an H9 or multi-fx, it's a breeze, and a great app.

Easy - It's definitely fine to add to a pedal chain, that will be no problem at all. The software is easy, but I didn't like it on the phone (too small), or on PC (prefer touchscreen over mouse for internal patching). Best on the ipad or a tablet.

Awesome - I've probably said too much about that already. The quality is great, the effects are cool, there's a few bitcrushing algorithms, and CV & knob tweaking brings out all the best sounds. It will keep on giving for as long as you're doing eurorack. Repatch it internally to make it into a drum synth, messed up clapper, laser noise button, dronebox, filterbank, etc. Endless uses, you can learn a lot from it, instant compatibility & access to all the cool euro modules, etc. etc.

Demora also has a Raptio button...

oscillateur wrote:Bias is usually the initial gain (i.e. volume when no other voltage is applied). As people usually say on Muffwiggler : you can never have enough VCAs. They're not only useful for audio but also for modulations, etc. Simple example : controling the amount of modulation (from an LFO for example) that is applied to something. Think : modulate the modulations, for starters.
On a VCA, what's the difference between the Bias and Input Level?
like on the Erica Black VCA http://www.ericasynths.lv/en/shop/eurorack_modules/6047-black_vca.html

does the VCA affect the tone?
I can't decide between the Black VCA or the Polivoks VCA. would there be a tone difference? Is the polivoks tone all in the filter?

IT'S STARTING. Got a RYO Ampmix kit and a TipTop Happy Ending kit coming from Control. :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

And the more I look at prices of stuff, it really doesn't seem that much crazier than guitar pedals or guitars. The core stuff seems to generally be $250 or less, like most pedals. :idk: Like, it's more expensive than an Epiphone JR, a Tube Screamer, and a shitty 112, but probably comparable with most guitar rigs on here.

Ah, thanks for your reply, Warp. That sounds pretty damn cool. Think I'll wait until some local store has a sale or it pops up used, then I might give it a try.
