It's one of the best pedals I own. I normally like being able to tweak lots of parameters, and I normally hate playing with knobs live, but the proteus has a lot of great sounds and it's easy to dial in. My faves are a full range step filter and a dark auto wah thing. Soooo good!

I saw them years ago for the countdown to extinction tour. I still listen to their early stuff occasionally, though at this point I consider it a guilty pleasure. Dave Mustaine has been a bit for the last decade or more though.

I love em, especially their older stuff, but Dave can't sing to save himself. At least on the old albums he'd get near enough after 100 takes and 3kgs of illicit substances, but the last few albums he's just been painfully autotuned. Would have loved to have seen them on the countdown tour, but man, most footage on YT is just Dave looking bored, singing worse than normal with a bunch of anonymous dudes.

Still, even on the new stuff he has a great ear for a melody, when he wants to.

Have any clips? Those two sounds are what I imagine I'd do with it as well. That's how I use my hyperphase. I feel like this, set up in a fast step mode, in front of fuzz would make for some great solo sounds, or textural stuff.

Dude if my 2 year old doesn't get over zealous with dinner and destroy the kitchen I'll try and get to rehearsal early and record something. If not, def weekend.
