Honestly, forum rules may be interpreted in such a way that posts of "for sale" builds = spamming. I'd like for everybody to continue doing their thing (and this is in no way to come across as dickish), but posting across the board is a great thing, man! It's pretty rad here vs other forums. I don't know for certain if what goes on in here actually is spam, but I could see where it might be interpeted as such. Dunwich-bro, I'd PM Tom or a mod to be sure that you're operating within the board rules, posting guts and info on your wares. Just to be sure. Like I said, not in here to rain on anyone's parade. Just want to make sure that all Doom Room goings-on are legit/within the rules. Peace.

I've never even thought of putting a noise suppressor on my board before.

What are the cons about it?

I've used noise suppressors in the past and for the most part have had positive experiences. I don't use them any more, however, as they can decrease the sustain. I used to play tight, percussive styles with lots of aggressive gain, but since slowing down and using sustain as a form of expression, a noise suppressor detracted from the music. With that said, look into the Zvex Loop Gate. Apart from being a really unique and useful musical tool for expression, the gate as a standalone unit is supposed to be excellent. It's $200, but I'll be picking one up myself when I can, mostly for the unique features, but the gate might come in handy as well.

This is a pretty great idea, honestly.

if the regulars in here dont like me posting about my own stuff I will not post my stuff here. However i dont want to get a shark tank page here either way. People can let me know.

I really enjoy reading your posts, whether they're regarding your products and gear, or simply joining in with the conversation.

I'm going to have no fun money and no ear drums so soon. KWC, two nights of Boris, Floor. fucking awesome.

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of the widely-respected underground rock band FLOOR.

FLOOR (Steve Brooks – Guitar, Vocals, Anthony Vialon – Guitar, Henry Wilson – drums) recently reunited on the heels of their career retrospective ‘Below and Beyond’ boxset, and are preparing to enter the studio for an imminent release.

The band released their wildly influential self-titled full-length album in 2002, before splitting. Brooks went on to form another critically-acclaimed band: TORCHE, while Wilson formed DOVE.

Additionally, the reactivated band will hit the road for short run of dates before they enter the studio. The run will begin on May 27th in Charlotte, NC and conclude on April 10th in Birmingham, AL. Support on all dates comes from Joe Preston’s THRONES. A full list of dates can be found below:

I did however get my tech to order a super distortion for my tele bridge and now I'm apprehensive, but it's already in transit and he's a friend so I don't want to piss him about. Always second guessing myself if I have time to mull anything over.

Why are you apprehensive? What do you like and not like about the stock pickup? I hated the feedback from my tle customs bridge pickup so I swapped it for a noiseless neovin pickup that was just a tad bit hotter and I love it. Crunch, cut, and clarity for days. The SD should net you no feedback as well as more higher output and more crunch. Much better for da doomz.

I suppose it was just output and lack of thickness. But it's a Baja, so it has like 6 different options and I'm worried that it will basically reduce it to bridge and neck and spoil all the inbetweenies - which I do love the sound of.

It will def fix the output and thickness, and actually as long as the SD is a 4 conductor it can open up a rack ton of wiring possibilities; series / parallel / north single / south single. all of which can be wired numerous different ways with the neck pickup.

Three ways to do it from worst to best but it all depends, as a gate in the front of your chain, as a gate at the end of your chain, 4 cable method using the loop in the noise gate.

1. If you just get pickup hum and it stops when you turn your volume down then you can just put a gate first in your chain. Works ok with a single coil guitar that buzzes a little.

2. Put the gate after your dirt in your amps effects loop and set it to clamp down hard. This is the Helmet method and works great if you always run the same dirty sound all the time with maybe a solo boost. Doesn't work if you run a lot of different pedals or clean sounds because the gate needs a stable level feeding it so that you can get the threshold set.

3. Best method, use the loop in the noise supressor. This works best if you have a bunch of dirt pedals. The gate goes first in the chain and you set the threshold to your guitar, then send to your dirt pedals and return back to the gate and then out to delays/reverbs. The clean signal from the guitar controls the opening and closing of the gate so it always acts the same no matter what pedals you have on, but the gate is on the loop so you can have 3 fuzz pedals on at the same time and it will still be silent when you stop playing.

Chain: guitar > tuner > in - noise supressor - send > octave > od/fuzz/fuzz/fuzz > return - noise supressor - out > delay > reverb > amp

I have mainly used the Boss NS-2 and it only works well with the 4 cable method using the loop. For a straight gate method I'd use a regular gate. For hiss removal in an amps effects loop I'd use a hush or a Decimator ($$).

I have tried all of these pedals and the rack version of the Decimatror. Ended up using a NS2 and never had any of my notes cut off, tone suck, or anything that most everyone says that is bad about the Boss uint. I think people ragging on them is the equivalent of people talking about how fucking a fat girl is gross. Get an NS2 and save some cash because it works.

I, for one, love seeing pictures of my amp being built but I also loved seeing you go through Shannon's build too, it's really cool to see it all come together.

Noted. On a side note, you playing much these days? I remember you saying you were kind of falling out of love with guitar and in love with guns. That happened for a little with me(with photography instead of guns) but now I've been enjoying playing guitar more than ever - it's like I came back with a vengeance.

I post across the board often enough to know that I like enough people who actively post in this thread, and elsewhere on ILF that I'd recommend necessary precautions are taken, so those dudes can continue doing their thing here. I feel I was pretty diplomatic; so much so that it didn't warrant such a "tone" in reply. Let's play nice, ok?

Nick - I enjoy all your posts one pedal builds and amp builds, a lot goes over my head, but i still like learning. I don't think the shark tank is a bad idea and you deserve to be there with the quality of work you do, but i would still love to see all your stuff here too!

Nightterrors - I have a noise gate, and i got it a while ago to help with noise, and i used it at the beginning of the chain to kill the signal from my guitar. It worked and it did not impact the tone at all, it was a decimator clone, but the problem i had as Goldfish mentions it started to fuck with the sustain which was annoying. But if you're playing tight metal with a lot of stop start, then yes its awesome...otherwise i think volume knob does the job...or even a volume pedal.

so as some of you may know...i sold guitar...and today i it the bullet and bought a new guitar. Tomorrow i should be getting it delivered to my work, so i wont spoil it but saying what it is now. Also...FINALLY...i'll get the Sarcophagus tomorrow, nothing to do with Mark, its the damn postal service in the US and in UK. Needless to say, tomorrow is going to be a hell of a good day!
