It's sort of good thing, they're audience is big enough that it provides a lot of good attention to things that would otherwise go unnoticed and they're probably responsible for a lot of things actually getting physical releases here in the west. Here's the short list of reasons why people don't like them though:

1. subscribing to a service that only lets me stream and not download is dumb
2. a lot of stuff is only available at 480p (most people go for the 720 from broadcast)
3. the quality of their subtitles isn't always the best and they get outclassed by fan-sub groups who do it for free*
4. horrible subs are the same ones that crunchyroll uses, but for free

*edit: there are also a few different styles when it comes to subbing: crunchysubs are very literal (word on the street is the translators don't always watch the show, they just go from the scripts), but there are people like me who prefer subbers that fudge around with it a bit for humor.

They aim for a teen-pop audience most of the time which is what pays for the more oddball stuff.. like who still watches Bleach and One Piece? I agree on the subs too, this will be my last time as a paying viewer.. it use to be I'd follow a few shows a season now it's a year.. just not enough catches my interest anymore that is coming out and they don't have a big back catalog.

Meh i don't mind paying for crunchy roll. I think the good it does outweighs all of the drawbacks by far. I think dudes are getting way too stingy. I remember having to wait for vhs releases of shitty dubs and paying $30-$40 bucks a pop for those. Most of the time we only really got action shit anyway. Im more than happy to pay $60 a year to watch simulcasts. i totally agree on the back catalog thing though. Its something we've been bringing up constantly in the premium forum so hopefully shinji will get on it.

If they puffed up the back catalog I'd be willing to go back to paying [well I'm payed up for this year anyway  ] :thumb:

i'm okay with using this instead of Ebay and getting dvds from Thailand with subs that would change spelling and character names at random.

also i know this isn't a manga thread, but has anyone read Bambino? waiting for scanlations of the sequel

No I haven't, and Bakaupdates doesn't have anyone listed as picking it up :idk:

And the group that is said that did Bambino
A group is designated as inactive
if it hasn't release in the past 6 months.
A lot of good groups ended about a year or so ago because of the whole Jmanga thing which then fell apart, new groups are popping up but a lot of stuff I read slowed down to a crawl too.

Really I'm just into any tough guys with pompadours in anime.
the trailer alone looks so rad. Its like if Spike gave zero fucks and dressed like a boobie loving greaser. Plus old school Misfits so, woot.

So Space Dandy started with about 5 mins of T to A ratio. The amount of wat is making my nose bleed. XD

Ok, so far, I can dig it. The boob jokes made me feel stupid at first I will admit, which makes me feel like an old fuddy duddy, but it makes up for it with everything else. The soundtrack is like a super funky Cowboy Bebop, and the main character is a fucking space greaser. Consider me interested.

If you're into Shaft stuff like Monogatari & Arakawa Under the Bridge I would definitely recommend Nisekoi. Sekai Seifuku is interesting so far, pretty funny and unique, i think it's shaping up to be a great series.
