I'm taking an Intro to Digital Studio class. Last week we watched Exit Through the Gift Shop, which is a documentary about street/graffiti art. This week our assignment was to create two street art compositions using photoshop. So all that said, I channeled my inner Shepard Fairey to create this:

I also made one based on This Will Destroy You, but no one's interested in that.

WRONG. LET'S SEE IT.

Also, Exit Through the Gift Shop was awesome until it became all about Thierry Guetta. At least from a literal point of view. I didn't try to dissect his story or anything.

Yeah, I could probably pinpoint the moment the move became not interesting. And after I read about how it may or may not be a hoax, it just becomes even less interesting when its all Mister Brainwash.

Anyway...

When I get a chance I may photoshop it onto the side of a building, since that was the point of the assignment. We all had to make a blog to post our work on it, hence this having a white background. I still have the PSDs though, which are transparent, so I could probably make a decent looking mockup.

making a transparent background psd from the black white jpeg is possible with no quality loss. once you start working with grey or colors it becomes necessary to use the PSD to do your side of the building thing.

invert your photo and use it as a mask for a layer of solid black. thats the easy way to rip it into photoshop with transparency.

I've already got the transparent file. We just had to post the jpeg for our blog. Thanks for the advice though. I don't actually plan on tagging any buildings, but I think it would look pretty cool. Its tempting.

yeah I know you got the PSD but I just want to drop some photoshot tips on you in case you ever get into that situation. in the graphics business you sometimes have very little to work with so making the best of it is important. I have been using photoshop for 16 years.

A black and white negative burned, boiled, and then promptly moved to the freezer. Scanned as a color negative.

Here's the last artwork I've done. More design than actual art:

I dig that, I feel it could work as pedal art, I'm just not sure what kind of pedal. I also really like the touch of blue.

I know these are very mediocre but hell, I created them just for fun not for an art gallery:
