The people: "We need to do something about this gassing in Syria!"
Trump: *Fires tomahawks at airbase Syrian military used to deploy planes that did said attack"
The people: "You motherfucker, you'll get us into a war."

What the hell did want the government to do, then?
Hug it out with Assad and ask nicely?

Reading through Facebook threads about this is driving me absolutely insane.

People are
literally supporting a dictator that conducts chemical warfare on his own citizens.
Americans are saying that the Syrian military should conduct a counter-attack.

Agreed. He had to do something.
What he did wrong in this situation was phone ahead to the Russians so they could clear the base. Reports are saying that they told the hostiles and that it was basically an expensive fireworks display.
Someone wrote on facebook that he should have bombed the chemical plants. Yea, that would have been smart. Just bomb chemicas and disperse them into the air. I don't see the issue there.
I want to remind folks once again. President Obama dropped more bombs than almost any other President in history, if not the most. 26,000 + in 2016 alone.
I didn't hear shit when that was going down. Kind of odd.

Not gonna argue about who's the most prolifically bombing President in U.S. history.
I think what Obama did in regards to his foreign policy was somewhat balanced by his "progressive" agenda domestically.
Also, FWIW, I don't think Trump really had much of a choice about informing the Russians. There's probably protocol in place for that.

It's also really weird to see a total shift in who is supporting this. MSNBC praises this while Trumpers are going wild against it. I just want to punch myself in the dick.

That's your problem, right there in a nutshell. People on FB just post the most visceral, kneejerk nonsense that pops into their uninformed heads. I gave up FB, except for wishing people happy birthday and the occasional pm, and my blood pressure has gone way, way down.

No need, just hop on a plane to Palm Beach and report to Mar-a-lago. Trump and Xi Jinping will take turns punching you in the dick. Then Bannon will waterboard you.

Well that's a matter of perspective. The airport is still destroyed, and he doesn't have to explain to Russia why the US is bombing their troops.

I didn't hear shit when that was going down. Kind of odd.
On average, the US dropped about 36,000 bombs PER DAY during the Vietnam conflict period (1955-1975). And that's just "cluster" bombs and excludes napalm and other more conventional munitions. 260 million cluster bombs / 20 years / 365 days (that's the math I used, and I'm assuming the bomb total figure is factual).
So no, Obama is a candy-ass in the bomb dropping department. A complete failure in that regard, I would say.
If you'll recall from the early days of the Obama administration, every single drone strike was a big news story. But then it got old hearing about it, and people stopped paying attention to that fact that we were blowing up weddings or children's hospitals every once in a while. Drone strikes became part of our policy in the Middle East (or parts of it), and it stopped being news. But it was big news in the beginning.
If Trump keeps launching cruise missiles, it will become old news and people will stop caring. One of the Kardashians will have a tit fall out at some event, and we'll all stop paying attention to actual news. But the reason this particular strike is more significant than Obama's pitiful showing in bombing is because Trump is now picking a fight directly with Russia. Obama bombed shitbag countries that have no power and that almost nobody cares about. Trump has now bombed a world nuclear superpower, and not some wimpy one like France...and actual serious, ruthless nuclear superpower.
Surely, you must see how this is different.

1) That's a good point, but
2) Trump's not the one that decided to start our intervention into the conflict.

Are Trumpers pissed about him doing what he said he wouldn't, or that he didn't nuke Russia directly?

I think a lot of people who supported Trump did so because they were drawn to a more isolationist position, so I think they're pissed that he's acting the same way Clinton would have.

The only thing worse than what Hannity writes is what he says.
My dad sometimes listens to talk radio and the instant Hannity comes on I have to insist he turns him off.

Frankly, I'm more concerned about N. Korea than anything happening in Syria. We will try to avoid killing Russians, and the Russians will probably try to avoid killing us. Putin lives large and loves life too much to blow up the world. Kim Jong Un, on the other hand, doesn't seem to understand that we could easily turn his country into a radioactive wasteland if he attacked us. When someone with nukes doesn't understand MAD - or even just pretends not to understand MAD - you have big, big problems.
Things have really gone downhill since 9/11. We seem to be living in a never-ending age of military interventions and counterinsurgencies, and there is no end in sight. It could go on for a generation or longer.
