Worst GoT episode to date.
10 straight minutes of titties couldn't save it.

TV:
Producers/writers are saying Jon is dead dead. Riot GrrMartin equivocates though. He might be dead but not completely out--the books have a few characters with interesting second acts, and there is a priestess of the Red God at Castle Black, so things could happen.
Speculation-y bit:
Also, the dragon has three heads.
TV:
Also, given that they don't shy away from showing death on screen, it is curious that they didn't show Stannis actually dying, but only having an apparently inevitable end.
Book and TV:
Parallels Briene being on the noose in the last book, but whaddya know, she's still in play on the show.

That's definitely misdirection, Mel (who can totes rez people) is conveniently in the Wall when For The Watch happens.

Yep, I feel like there is no way that GRRM or the show will let Stannis get off that easily. I anticipate serious amounts of regret and suffering in his near future.

OK, just caught up on the finale and abandoned reading Dance w/Dragons about 1/5 way in.
Much shock I was having.
Equal amounts of speculation to be listened to for either side of the purpose of John's death. Wondering if Cat will finally make her return next season as well, then? Undead Starks everywhere?
Plus surely by now there are enough reports amidst the ranks of the Watch that verify the existence and very real threat of the Whytes. It doesn't make a great deal of sense for them to off John and abandon all hope of dealing with the wildlings when they are clearly gonna need their help. Unless, liars, thieves and rapists that they are, they're just gonna bail?
Plus what's Danny gonna do about this annual meeting of the Kahl's?

Dance with Dragons picks up toward the end. Way better than book 4 IMO. Granted, I didn't read either of them, and don't know that I would've finished, but the books on tape were entertaining enough.
I've been kind of puzzled about the lack of Zombie Cat in the show. I get that it was part of the cut Brotherhood without Banners thing, but seems like she would've been thrown in. I guess it's possible the GRRM has no clue what he's doing with that storyline, so there's no point in adding it to the show. As far as the watch, the book plays out a bit differently but the end is the same. Most of the Watch seem to believe that hiding behind the wall will be more than enough to protect them. They also make mention in the books that the main tunnel was designed to be frozen shut to prevent anyone/thing to get through it.

Yeah, the show seemed to focus more on the whole 'we fucking hate Jon Snow' thing instead of the 'we fucking hate the freefolk, ergo we also hate Jon Snow.' thing

This last episode was my least favorite to date. They really overplayed Snow's resurrection. I mean, we all knew it was going to happen and they just DRUG IT ON.
