Facepalm yourself...

The 500 series modules are co-developed by Roland and Malekko (Josh from Malekko being the main person in charge for these if I'm not mistaken), and from everything I've read so far they seem pretty good. They were actually playable at the Tokyo Festival of Modular a few months ago but I didn't check them in details because I was more interested in the new digital modules. Which are quite good too.

Roland also just announced a 3U 84HP case that looks really nice. Sadly with only 10 connectors with a flying ribbon cable so you'd need another extra cable if you have lots of small modules like me. Price unknown so far, if it's up to 30k yens I'd be interested in getting one.

Well, the way I understood it yours was not a very informed one... Even if you don't like the new digital Roland modular/patchable stuff, the 500 series are a completely different product made by a different team and actually manufactured by Darkplace (company owned by Malekko people with their own assembly line/etc. for pedals and modular stuff).

Roland's releases have been pretty good as well lately. Scooper at least seems like a great replacement for the MASF Possessed, since anything above a guitar signal will make the Possessed explode. Boutique series stuff sounds good as well even it's only 4 voices compared to 6.

i'm probably just biased by my pile of vintage and eurorack. i've had zero interest in anything they've put out. including the euro modules.

I feel the same, although I don't have a stack of vintage synths. I just don't understand the attraction to their euro modules when there are so many more exciting things happening in euro :?:

The 21HP digital Roland modules are actually quite interesting. Not perfect but a good step in a worthy direction. For the 500 series there's a fair bit of nostalgia factor but they do have features (beyond sound signature) that could make them interesting for some people : lots of mixers for audio/CV inputs, for example.

I'm still scared of the TR-8 green lights but that Roland/Malekko stuff looks sex.

Alright, so this Polivoks filter creates some really fucking good bass lines with a low pass sweep. Really fucking cool and I'd totally recommend it to everyone because it's fat as fuck. (Although you have to do the sweeps manually. Sort of weird you can't control frequency or resonance with CV.)

Now I need to look towards a nice, smaller high pass filter. Anyone got any suggestions before I dive in myself?

Fuck how have I not heard of this? This thing looks like a complete god damn beast. I'll have to look at demo videos to see if it will get as fat as the MS-20. Definitely has my attention though since I can Xfade two separate filter settings.
