Alternative facts, or actual ones?

Some serious shit going on.
This could be an important and reforming moment for the Republican party. If they can be consistent in what the believe - sovereignty and belief in national security - they'll subpoena Trump to release his tax returns.
If it comes to it they should move toward impeachment and get the country back to a more sane position politically and functionally. The Trump admin's rhetoric towards the intelligence community and any entity in the government that disagrees with them is truly nuts.

Impeaching trump is a necessary step, but it won't get us to a good place, at least not immediately. Or as Will McAvoy said "To those advocating Trump's impeachment, I say: Imagine if Napoleon could tweet from Elba."
As a former refugee, I'm within a hairs width of moving to Canada.

Not to derail the milk shakes, but maybe after the inevitable impeachment both parties will fracture in civil wars and we will wind up with Democrats, Progressives, Republicans, and Trumpeteers. I've always felt that more political parties would make for a healthier system.
But hey, what the hell do I know?

I actually thought Hillary would win.

Well, obviously, as evidenced by the very existence of this thread, I think our political system needs massively great reform.
This wasn't quite the way I imagined it though.
If any good comes out of our current political situation, it may end up being worth it in the long run.

Yeah, we need reform.

If Trump is impeached such an action would codify even more in the mind's of Trump supporters that the establishment is as Trump said it was and thus all Republicans that supported impeachment would be raked through the coals by those Trump supporters.
It would be dark.
While I think more parties would be a good idea and I'm also hesitant cause the other parties out there now aren't that well grounded and play the chess-like game of taking positions that are starkly in opposition to the major parties so as to seem different and appealing - even if said positions aren't necessary good ones or well thought out.
I'd hope the Democrats and Republicans could cut the fat - the illogical factions within or emerging with each party: Trumpers, SJW progressives, etc. - so as to get to a point of acting having good debate and not side tracked by the irrational fact-less shit. The Alt-Right and what Asra Nomani has called the "Alt-Left."
I understand people's disenchantment and I more people may go into those isolated corners which very well could lead to a civil war. Both looking at each side - or the hard lined sides - as Fascists.

Same here. I thought it would come through smaller parties like the Green Party and the Libertarians slowly increasing in size, which would lead to European-style coalitions. I still think Hillary should have co-opted the Greens.

Definitely. Let's just hope Trump doesn't get us all killed first. He's the only president who has ever truly scared me.
