Well, mine isn't "spot on". And, I don't use a strobe. But, it's setup well enough that I'm sorta afraid to change anything, like string gauge, up. I was even able to flip the bridge back into it's original position. Of course, the .084 will barely make a defined note. So, that's a problem...
FWIW, I had to shim the neck on a hardtail Jag, that I had, to get it set up.

BDPG into BassVI update: Something got fucked up with the pcb because I tested the board and its toast. However, I bypassed the tone and volume controls and it really opens up the sound. The on/off switches and strangle switch still work beautifully. I can play open chords without a wall of mud without the strangle switch engaged. I think I might leave it like this.

I'm thinking about setting my Bass VI up for baritone tuning. I will definitely need lighter strings though. Anyone know what the heaviest gauge is that I could use and be able to tune it up to B-b? I realize that a lot of the stuff I've been writing these days is way more in the guitar side of things, and today I got a Bass Whammy and shifted everything up a fifth and it sounded glorious.

Alright, you infected me. I'm getting a Fender Pawn Shop VI next month. If I skimmed this thread correctly, I should look into heavier strings (going for C-standard), maybe a Staytrem and probably Alumitones at one point. Did I miss something?

Also, for C standard, get extra heavy strings, like at least .106, maybe even whatever size is up from that.

I use .115 roundwounds for D standard on mustang bass, but then again I like fairly tight strings (they kinda are).

I feel like I'm the only person here who plays their VI in E standard tuning...

Hahaha. I thought it was Eb for some reason. Sounds so warm and romantic when you play.

I don't think I've ever tuned mine higher than Eb... I normally play in Drop C# but I really want either the antigua hardtail or a Dano Vi to put in new standard tuning.

Chalk me up as another E Standard vi player. Mine has a Staytrem bridge & la Bella strings of a better gauge than the standard ones. All stock other than that though

Mine is in e standard right now. I'm on the fence about setting it up for bari tuning or just buying a baritone.

I played one of the Antigua with that weirdo Dano bridge. Gotta say I really liked how it played. That could have been due to the setup because the guy that works at that shop sets guitars up beautifully but I should warn you that the pickup switch is in a really inconvenient spot.

I've been having massive GAS for a pre-CBS VI lately... UGH
