so he basically made Joyos less versatile?

No, no.
More resistors = more components = more tone = Red Dot Special

this is exactly right. more components always means more tone.

"Gooping" is when pedal makers put stuff on their circuit boards to keep people from seeing the schematic, keeping people from replicating their pedals.

Or in this case, covering up the fact that the pedal maker is just using someone else's boards.

It's sort of the pedal builder equivalent to what happens at the end of most porn videos.

I just ordered a joyo black tuner pedal. It looks just like the korg pitch black. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

Joyo is legit for a chinese company, and I don't think FB "made" a tuner? :idk: Will probably be satisfied with anything Joyo you get.

i think Joyo's Chinese mass produced clones. i bought a Ultimate Octave Fuzz or sumphin (green one) on a lark. sounded like the definition of Meh. i've heard they have huge qc issues, but i barely played the bugger so i dunno.

It would not be surprising if joyo's qc was hit and miss. The funny thing is that Joyo now has better credibility than freekish blues because Joyo is at least honest with the consumer about what they are. That and peoples expectations for a $30-$60 pedal are significantly lower than for a $100+ pedal!
