My secret shame is I can't stomach the taste of beer. Never could. I drink girl drinks only.

Skip the mixer, and we'll just do shots* of tequila.

And none of that salt and lime shit, either. We drink like men, til one of us falls over which will probably be me as I have little tolerance due to lack of drinking.

* - today i learned that a shooter is not a shot.

I had to reread that sentence three times before realizing it said "mean margarita" and not "meat margarita".

I've practiced my point shooting for years, I can beat your Tueller Drill, esé.
karmablock wrote: I who work with this population I'm going to have to disagree with you. Aspergers is an outdated diagnostic term. Autism spectrum disorder has a wide range of symptoms. I've met people working on PHDs on the spectrum (who would have previously diagnosed as aspergers). And there is the kids I work with who are totally non communicative and usually the type of child anti-vaxxers reference. It is infuriating that anti-vaxxers equate autism with ruining their children. Early diagnosis paired with the right therapy can do wonders.
Then you know exactly what I mean.

There's plenty of people who have real issues, and then there's tons of people who just have dickhead kids (or are dickheads) who claim shit like "autistic spectrum" and "asbergers" to cover up for the fact that they're jsut stupid, lack common sense, or are dickheads, regardless if "asbergers" is an outdated term or not.
I think I must have misread or misinterpreted what you were saying. I thought you were implying it is total shit.

There are people who often force a diagnose out of a Doctor or will find one that will tell them what they want to hear. Oppositional Defiant Disorder for example of that.
That kid that always messes with the teacher, is always disruptive, bullies other kids and throws tantrums when mildly inconvenienced. He's not a jerk he has oppositional defiant disorder.

*It should be noted most kids I've dealt with personally that are diagnosed with that often lack a traumatic event that spurred on that kind of behavior. Kids that do are often diagnosed differently or will have an additional diagnosis.

No. Maybe?

There are lots of different types of autistic kids, and I'm going to continue to use Asbergers even though you say it's not longer something they recognize only because I'm a layman and you understand what I mean when I say it. There's lots of people with legitimate problems out there.

And then there's special snowflake kids who are just assholes, or just antisocial, or maybe are a bit dumb... but they're not the above, they're just assholes. Or just stupid. Shit happens.

I've known enough people through my life, and through my children, to recognize and acknowledge there are real problems out there that people struggle with... and there's also assholes who look for a diagnosis so they can justify their shitheel behaviour.

I also don't doubt there's more "Autistic spectrum" people with diagnosises from real doctors. I agree, it's easier for them to eb diagnosed and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there's also more of them from the fact that the modern lifestyle is causing something in the form of birth defects or whatever. I don't know what, though. I won't profess to guess at what, either. I'll leave that to the professionals.

The problem is that a shrill minority of people are too busy shouting over professionals so it's hard to know what's real and what's not.

More importantly? Who's the better Roosevelt? Teddy or FDR?

I think we are on the same page? There are people who do use a diagnosis as an excuse for themselves or their children which what I think you are getting. And that's why I used ODD as an example.

As for causes of Autism, like everything else it comes down to genetics and eviromental conditions while in utero.

I'm gonna go with FDR.
