God damn it man. It was a good ending but that is not at all the kind of ending I wanted to see.Achtane wrote:Nice! The art style took some getting used to but I ended up really liking it. It feels old-school, never seen anything like it. Kurosawa's easily the best (and the only) lonely 44-year-old construction worker protagonist out there.

Sorry man. I cried. Not even manly tears, either. But I couldn't imply anything about the ending in the post!jfrey wrote:God damn it man. But afterward I was looking around and found this: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... sawa-manga
Dunno what to think of that...

Re: ILF Anime Thread OK321LETSJAMBADABADABADABADABAAAAH!!!!!
I'm a huge fan of "Boys on the Run", as well as "I am a Hero", both by the same author. Dude is the shit, he writes the best characters and has a great attention to detail. Both series have some thematic similarities with Kurosawa, although Boys on the Run is the more "normal" of the two and I'd probably start with it first as it's on its final volume. It's fully capable of both uplifting and crushing. It also contains the greatest chapter and comeback in all of history. Completely worth reaching it.
With I am a Hero, the first volume is very different from the rest of the manga, so just keep reading and you'll see.
I started reading The Voynich Hotel on a whim and while I was initially skeptical, it's turned out to be good...but it's only on the third volume right now. The art and storytelling styles are different from anything I've seen in a while, pretty refreshing.
I think you might like Teppu, even though it went on hiatus after volume 4 'cause the author has some kind of illness. Still worth a shot.

Aw man the author of Teppu got over his/her junk and it's back in production. 2 years without any new chapters, I thought it was done for sure.
When I mentioned it in the last post I had only read the first volume, but now that I'm caught up HOLY BUTTS THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I'VE HEARD IN FOREVER
Someone on 4chan recommended this series in a thread about tall female protagonists, and normally I wouldn't have even given a series like this a second glance, but I'm so glad I did. They said it was worth reading even though it was on hiatus, so I took the chance and man, it was so worth it.
Teppu takes all the tropes and bullshit I would expect from a female-fronted martial arts series and flips them on their asses. IT IS THE BEST.
Not an ounce of fanservice. It's really amazing considering the environment that produced it.

I used to absolutely hate fanservice but now I just find it hilarious. In fact that's probably a contributing factor as to why I've enjoyed the Monogatari series so much. The fanservice is so stupid and ridiculous that in my mind it actually starts to add to the surrealist aesthetic. Likely just me though.

I totally agree with you as far as the Monogatari series goes, I absolutely love that and I don't think the fanservice has a negative impact at all, it is hilarious (especially that episode in Nisemonogatari where Koyomi was brushing Karen's teeth).Twangasaurus wrote:I used to absolutely hate fanservice but now I just find it hilarious. Can't say the same about a lot of other shows, though.

Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3 isn't terrible… [I watched it all in one sitting…] its gainax though so I sort'a have to like it… it's… about girls shooting each other with BB guns and the emotional upheavals this apparently brings about.

I liked Upotte alright but skipped C3. One gun girl animu is enough for me.
I started reading Berserk and instantly became addicted. Now I'm on volume 18. I normally stray from super long series but this is so good.
I was kinda hyped for the anime version of Non Non Biyori 'cause the mango is so chilled out, but totally forgot about it and now I don't care. I'll watch it eventually. Maybe.
Started reading YKK and it's also great.

I'm still like halfway through Texhnolyze, Denno Coil and Mushi-shi. Not sure if I have it in me to finish them.
Monogatari series is still fucking awesome though. I hope there's not a huge gap before the next season.
