Is BVI-098 the best Circle K set to go with on a Squier Bass VI, and not have to work on the nut? Or, will it still need widening for those?

I guess it is common for the saddle height screws to back out on these?

So far, I'm finding my similarly priced Epiphone a lot better quality.

Nah, dude. It's a SG I got for my wife for X-mas. They are just both in the same price range and from the same part of the world.

Just got a set of circle k stings ending in a .106 and I love them, huge improvement over my .102 la bellas. Much tighter and fuller sounding

I'm using the circle k .102 set and they're great but I'm definitely gonna try .106 soon.

I play in standard so the .102 set was SUPER tight when I first put it on. Especially the low E. Thought I was gonna break it trying to tune the first time.

Wonder if it would be worse with the .106 set.

I need a staytrem bridge too. And alumitones. I gotta stop buying pedals and focus on my VI.

I ordered a .102 and a .106 set from Circle K/Kalium, gonna play it in both standard and a half step down. I can only imagine the amount of tension with a really heavy set of strings like that E-E, but with the trem there's no reason to stress about finger vibrato IMO.

And almost anything will be better than the floppy ass stock low E string.

I use .105-.50 normally on all of my short scale basses so I'm hoping for a similar feeling with the Bass VI, maybe with even more tension. Taut strings are a must on bass for me.

I ordered something like a light top/heavy bottom set from Kalium (.20, .30, .45, .60, .80, .105), I can't wait to try them out. My VI is at my luthier's for a new nut, new pots and pickups (Alumitones, HUZZAH!) and a new bridge. The wait is driving me insane :(

I'm considering putting together a second bass vi to leave in new standard/fifths tuning. Obviously no tremolo because fuck setting that up, but how should I go about doing this..? I'll probably go with a tele style body and one of the DC Kunkle conversion necks. I'm thinking p90 in the neck and a tele style bridge?

NO to DC Kunkle. See my post below.

I've got my stock Squier set up pretty well, now. After flattening out the neck a bit and working on the bridge some, it seems to intonate fine. I've got the buzz out. And, didn't need to shim the neck. The biggest complaints I have are the saddle height screws, sloppy nut, and the near-unless floppy E. Which leads me to wonder, do the intonation problems start when you guys move to heavier strings?

Just heard from my luthier, the truss rod in my VI is useless, as in serves no purpose, does fuck all. Thanks, DC Kunkle, top work, mate.

I cant even get my hardtail jag to intonate properly. Let alone a vibrato vi.
