Reading through this thread has certainly been an eye opener. I never knew how sleazy their practices are and it's quite perturbing. Thus far I've only ordered one pedal through them, but I can safely say they will not be receiving any further business from me.

I'm not trying to tell people how to feel, but let's face it, PryMaxe Vintage is just a drop in a bucket of shitty business practises. Everyone here knows where iPhones are made. Everyone here knows where Nike products were made and probably still are. These companies are bigger than ever. I remember once wearing a Nike wristband, back when they were in fashion years ago, and I was out with friends. Someone noticed the wristband, shouted at me, tore it off my wrist and threw it in a puddle. She then went on to school me on Nike's many questionable production practises. I was mad, not only because of what Nike were doing and that I was ignorant to it, but because of how my "friend" reacted. She was incredibly insensitive and hurtful. She took it way too far, neglecting our friendship and the trust she should have had and instead blindly attacked me for something she probably takes part in herself everyday and doesn't realise or cannot deviate from because of how much it would cost and how impractical it would be. She had no right to take something that I owned and throw it a puddle just because she didn't agree with slave labour. To do that is to suggest I do in fact condone slave labour, which is untrue and she knew that. Every time she buys something for cheap, it is probably made under poor conditions. To single out Nike and berate yourself and others for living a life without spending every waking moment ensuring we're not insulting some hypocritical hippy, it's just stupid. Where do you draw the line? If we hate PryMaxe for the constant 15% off then we also have to hate ProGuitarShop. If we hate PryMaxe for treating people like shit then you have to hate RogueGuitarShop and any other business that doesn't care about their suppliers, which I can guarantee is many that we regularly support. If we hate PryMaxe for money-grubbing, we have to hate Apple, Monster Cable, and basically every single major company in the entire world.
Anyway, my point is, I didn't beat myself up over what I had done. I had my own self of morality and it was not linked to another else's that needed confirmation from in order to proceed with living. I was more concerned with my friend's reaction and quickly left that group of people. I already knew they were drama queens and annoyingly pretentious, but this was just the clincher that sealed the deal. I have no desire to be around people that favour dramatics and claim their anger and lack of respect and love is deserved because of what happens in sweat shops in Asia and around the world. We draw the line ourselves. We decide what's right and what's wrong. Don't look for condemnation or consolation from anyone here. It doesn't matter what I think of you for buying from PryMaxe. You obviously don't see it as such a terrible thing, and neither do I, or else you wouldn't have bought from them. But there is nothing wrong with that. I've been reading this thread again and a lot of people, including myself, have become so aggressive towards this whole PryMaxe ordeal because of its proximity to our heart, but the truth is, we all know deep down that they are no different than the millions of businesses we are FORCED to support every single day. We are in a world where if an insurance company fucks with us, we can't go somewhere else because they'll fuck with us too and we'll have to go through the process again. Not only that but refusing to buy Nike products in the future won't hurt Nike in the slightest, so why bother? Why degrade ourselves so that that their revenue is point point point point point point point point point point point point point point point point point one percent lower annually? It's not worth it. This thread hopefully will hurt PryMaxe enough for them to change their practises, but they'd still be scumbags looking, like everyone else, for another way to save money. You can't always change someone by ignoring them.

I guess I tend to see a difference due to the fact that you can buy a Fuzzhugger pedal without hurting Tom's business while it's impossible to buy a phone that's made in decent social and environmental condition.
My take on it is that I try to be the most responsible in my habits. I could take the bus everyday instead of driving a car, but using public transportations would take me a bit more than an hour while the car is only ten minutes. I won't beat myself if there's no decent alternative - I rather spend that time militating for things to change.

Exactly. That's the morality compass you've designed for yourself. No one else should be trying to change it. If you're hurting others or being complacent to a fault then maybe it's time to reconsider your actions and habits, but that's still something you'll have to do yourself. Government bans on speeding, taking drugs, etc. doesn't stop everyone doing it and certainly neither will I or anyone here.

If this practice is bad for the builders why don't they just agree not to sell their wares at Prymaxe and instead sell it at another shop that doesnt do the constant discount? I am willing to bet that if a big group of builders went to PGS and said they would pull all their stuff from Prymaxe in exchange for their stuff not being on constant discount they would do it.

So what I'm seeing is that INTERPOL should really step in on this Prymaxe thing.
