I'd really like to get some geometric shit to cover a scar on my chest, but it seems like everyone in Seattle does: realism, japan, or traditional. I don't know if most shops kinda only put that stuff in their portfolio because it's popular, or if artists around here don't do more original stuff.......

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you're not looking hard enough.

Ask an artist. Most good tattooists will be more than happy to recommend someone else to you if they're not going to be a good stylistic fit.

I know a great guy in Seattle who will either a. Draw you what you want, or b. Get you in touch with who you need. He's my oldest friend, a great artist, and a nice guy to boot. Send me a pm if you want his contact!

My dude charges $150 an hour but I know him really well outside of tattooing so I pay way less.

my two latest guys are $100/hour but likewise w/ one of 'em since we're friends outside the biz.

I try not to pay over $100/hour if I'm going to a pro artist in a shop. Lately I've been getting ink from friends using the barter system and paying less because they wanna get their name out there. Shit, I paid $100 for my latest tattoo and he worked on my for 3, nearly 4 hours. Pretty sweet deal.

I will echo D.O.S.'s comment and say that you're not looking hard enough. There's a metric shit ton of artist here in the PNW that will do anything you want. Just go in and talk to the artists.

Ya I do love qotsa. I decided a few years ago that I wouldn't get any band related tattoos just incase I ended up hating the band later cause that seems to happen to me a lot. This is such a cool image though I think I'm gonna get it anyway.

It depends. I think most of my friends have paid ~$100 an hour with a tip.

I know a dude who got one of the Broken Image X inside a square (ala a browser screen), though. I think that was like cost of materials and that's it.

Mine was $125 /hour, and more recently $150 /hour. It's been 2.5 years since I've had work done, so she might be more now. I don't think I could justify paying much more than that an hour.

Yea, I paid something like $125/hr for my first tattoo. This gnarly little dude, Ichibay, from Japan.
I've also had a 3-4hr tatt cost me $80 (though it was a dude I skated with in highschool)

urf. so excited. finally caught up with loot purchases and about to start one of the sleeves i've wanted forever. got permission (just wanted to make sure i wasn't hurting his feelings) from the guy i usually go to to work with his co-worker. i ADORE her work.

i'm still torn on half or quarter sleeve though. i'd like to use the extra room to go almost to the elbow, but i also like being able to cover up with tshirts. i rarely wear long sleeves so.... yeah.
