Put in an order for a customized Rio Grande pitbull bass pickup :!!!:

I wanted to go with a stonewall wide range but they don’t return emails and never followed up on reverb after asking for a measurement for several weeks and attempts at contacting them…

So, I bought this for 40 bucks:

But there's hardly any information online. From what I can tell it has two seperate aux channels, individual inserts per channel, three band eq with +/-15db per band, probably a built in spring reverb (not sure), individual channel strips, parallel balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs and it looks pretty cool. Other than that, a handful of people on reddit and TGP say it's shit and a different handful of people say it's great. I dunno, will find out soon.

as i often ask in these kinds of situations, how good does it really have to be for $40? if it passes signal and isn’t horribly noisy i’d call that a win, and if the possibly-spring reverb doesn’t suck that’s worth over $40 on its own.

Yes, of course. According to the seller everything works apart from some crackles. I hope it sounds good, though. If it only passes signal and nothing more that's fine for me, best case would be if it added a special something so I can use it as a sound shaping "character mixer". I found a video on youtube about a similar desk and the guy demonstrates overdriving the channels. Sounds good to me. Apparently these desks were somewhere in the "prosumer" segment and they seem to have a very low noise floor. But yeah, 40 bucks. If it's not broken that money will be well spent in any case. I'm looking forward to experiment with the monitor send and hopefully utilize it as a feedbacking effects send for dub style delays.

Afterrr a very loooooooooooooong wait (I had placed my order on 1st August!), the CBA Lost+Found is finally here! The long wait payed off: it's a very cool multi effect pedal, with lots of simple but every effective and nice to noise with effects!

The desk came in today. I'm kind of shocked how enormously gigantic it is. If you know it, it's plain to see on the pics but somehow I expected maybe 2/3 of it. It is almost comically huge. Like all the faders and knobs roughly double the size of contemporary specimen. I'm sure it's a blast to work with it but how on earth am I supposed to keep it in my little flat?

Pre-mid-90s that was pretty normal…. Wasn’t until mackie came out with rackmountible mixers… my dad once just left a home studio mixer from the late 80s that size or bigger (and not a bad one) outside of Trading Musician in seattle in its box because attempting to sell the thing was a waste of time

Ok, testing: Overall I'm impressed. The desk is humming a tiny bit but for it's age it's incredibly silent. The reverb send/return has a bit of noise, but acceptable. The EQ's sound very good, you can overdrive the channels easily and it gives a very nice, musical crunch. Few things seem to be broken: Left aux input doesn't work. Effects return doesn't work, even though the meters clearly show incoming level. But there's no audio signal on the output. EDIT: I looked inside and someone changed a few connections on the module with the effects send/return and the left aux input. It looks pretty wild. I asked the seller if he knows anything about it, apparently he had the desk since the 70s, might as well be the only owner so far. We'll see.

Some things I'd prefer to be different: The Effects send is pre-fader, the reverb send is post-fader. Would be better for me if both were post-fader but that's how it is I guess. Also, the solo switches only affect the headphones output, not the master output which is kinda sad.

A few things I don't understand. There are jacks in the back labeled "Buss Access" for left, richt, reverb, effect and monitor and they don't seem to input or output anything. Also, there's a minijack labeled "Phantom Power" - wonder how that is supposed to work?

Anyway, for 40 bucks I really can't complain. Looks like I'm going to have a good time with this old fellow.

:thumb: Thank you! It actually says the effects send can be modified to be post-fader by switching one jumper wire per channel. :yay:

I actually prefer pre-fader. If my Samson SM-10 line mixer had both auxes pre-fader it would be my perfect cheap & cheerful rack mixer; the easy application to explain why is being able to put either aux “first” by feeding ones return into the other’s send while running either “first” full went and not putting dry into “second” and main bus, all without repatching. To do that, I would toss the conveniences of one-knob post-fader send adjustments.
