That GTI is cute.
And in great condition.

Jimny gies in tomorrow. Hubs were not the culprit.
Rattle has spread to 5th now.
Went to check the gearbox oil was full yesterday and copped a load of it to my face.
So i cant blame low fluids and at least ot hasnt been leaking.
Didnt check the transfer oil but it shows no signs of a leak either.
Really hoping the problem is in the transfer box (like the chain) as its way simple and cheaper to deal with but i got this sinking feeling that one/some of the bearings in the gear box have had it.
No power loss is good but this will probably be an expensive exercise in labour either way.

And my car atinks of burning gear oil as it spilt all over my exhaust

Quite affordable, too.

I think my Corolla needs a head gasket as well as a clutch...
The coolant reservoir empties so quickly after driving it a few days, but there isn't any coolant leak that I can see. And the exhaust is always a white smoke. The oil and coolant don't appear to be mixing and creating that gross crap, though.

So I bought a 2017 GTI,
Hopefully I will be spending more time here now than VWVortex.

Valve seals?
Either way you're gonna have to get the head off and investigate, which means a new gasket as well.
Good luck man

Ended up sending my car to a transmission shop. All sorted at a great expense but drives like new and i kinda dont want to sell it, even though common sense tells me i should.

Fortunate enough to own a Gen 2 Mini and all of the problems that come along with it.

Just finished replacing the thermostat housing and pump>thermostat pipe, as they both failed. Just went on a drive, everything smooth as ever, heat back... almost home, heat disappears.
Open hood in garage, nothing suspicious. Turn off car, white smooooooke from unidentified location at bottom, whining noise around the coolant tank, but its definitely not the tank.

Nope, don't have the tools to do so readily available.

Definitely on the list of things to do, though.

That's awesome. Cute cats too.

This is the first sunny weekend of the year here, so I took the hardtop off the Miata for the season. Gave it a quick wash, and a thorough flogging on some of my favourite back roads.
