Heres the board I'm using with mine. The Hitchhiker's Guide pedal is a Big Game pedals muff clone with oscillation footswitch and tone bypass in a 125b with top jacks.

Haven't played PS vs. Squire directly, but in general have been finding the Pawn Shop stuff I've played to be higher quality than Squiers.

ignoring th sloppy playing, any Ideas on how to get complex chords a little clearer without the bass cut?

I didn't feel stressed until he brought it up!
I will confirm something to you that you already know...your friend is an idiot.

I do like the trem but I need to see if I can loosen it up a bit. It hurts my wrist when I use it too much. I'm not going to block it though.

I typically only use three note chords, four at the most. I only really do power chords on the lower strings and save the more complex chords for the high strings. Soloing the bridge pickup helps for the lower chords, but I think the neck pickup sounds best for the higher stuff. Makes it a little more round and thick.

Your Driving Notion is great for chords too.

Squier Bass VI is everything I wanted it to be.

Loving the trem personally. Missed having one on any of my guitars. I actually use a lot of finger vibrato on bass so it's welcome on the VI.
Already ordered a Staytrem bridge and heavier strings. Should make it everything I want it to be.

On the off chance someone wants to trade their black or tort pickguard for a white one, I'd be down.

I borrowed an old Fender Bass VI from a friend who has several. My worst fears are coming true: It sounds good, feels good, and really love the range. Now I have to actually consider if I want to own one, instead of being a casual idea. I was hoping to maybe scratch the idea off of the list.

Put a couple of hours into playing the VI. Then I picked up my regular guitars, found they feel like ukuleles now. How do you hand the difference with the physical feeling of the neck scale? Does it get easier? So jarring for me.

The lowest notes don't have much output, as in the notes are barely distinguishable. Same results on two guitar amps and one bass amp. Worse with gain pedals set to my normal guitar settings, slightly better if I tweak the pedals. I wonder if that is due to the pickups in this particular guitar.

Do you guys swap guitar to bass VI in the middle of a set? How do you deal with the tonal range adjustments? This may be the biggest issue. I figure a particular pedal dedicated to the Bass VI might help, sort of as a preamp I suppose. I know my bassists Rusty Box sounds fucking killer in his rig.

I'm not having any output problems at all with mine, but I mine has the hotter pawnshop pickups. Maybe throw some overwound pickups in? You may also want to put a heavier set of strings on too, that really helps with the low notes.

Also, I generally just play it the whole set through. I'm a bass player in a two piece and it definitely fills the sound out.

This is not right, I would have the pickups checked by somebody who knows what they're doing. The lowest notes on mine sound like artillery fire.

Thanks for the responses guys. Good to hear that isn't normal. Though the EQ adjustments on amps and pedals help a bit, as my normal guitar settings don't do the lowest notes justice. If this were not a borrowed guitar I would try a string change and then pickup adjustment.
