The Momentary switch package has been traced, and I figured out how the Drone package works. I've drawn up two versions of the Drone, one that is like the original (4 frequencies, switchable to swap between two), and a slightly fancier version (6 frequencies, switchable to swap between two). I posted the schematic for both over at the DIYSB thread.

At the moment, I'm exploring the "Arpeggiator" aspect. The original unit has a 5 pin MIDI jack, but it was not connected to anything. I'm thinking that maybe I would be able to use a 555/4017 arrangement to build a sequencer, and use it to drive the 4046 in the PLL. I'm hoping to create a 10 step sequencer/arpeggiator unit that will plug into the PLL, and can be triggered remotely. I'm guess that this (or something similar?) was maybe what was on the drawing board, before Schumann vaporized.

Not an exciting report, but I managed to get the square wave fuzz finally working. Tons of wires going everywhere so I'm retracing all my steps and finding wiring errors here and there.

The squarewave fuzz sounds great, though. Pretty raunchy. I got a good fat signal entering the first inverter leading into the PLL chip but that's where it's getting lost. Double checking pinouts of the chips and how they correspond to the schematic along with another walkthrough. If that doesn't work then I'll compare trouble spots from the schematic to Dino's hand drawn schematic.

At least there's FUZZ!!! And I'm spending 90% of the weekend getting this right. Need to destroy ears!!!

I had all but given up on the pll and this thread but DAMN. Yeah that's all I got, well that and some $ set aside for this.

That's a great question, one that I was too busy to really think about. But, since you asked, I decided to try it with a Gemini III Dual Fuzz Generator in front of it.

AWESOME!!!! Thanks so much for shooting that. It does sound crazy good. Heck, the Gemini sounds awesome on its own, but the combo with it and the PLL is crazygonuts. Whoof. Great stuff.

If nothing else, these efforts have increased our collective knowledge of the PLL by about 1000%!

Here's something quick. I had to resort to a work around to get the PLL chip to function. So it's far from perfect but at least it's a start. Vid starts off with the divider, add in some multiplier, and then the fuzz. Lots more to come. Pretty fun to play as is...
