Hello all.

New member here. I think I have a problem. Until a few months ago I was a sane guitarist. I had a very basic and modest setup at home for bedroom noodling and an extremely cheap and expendable set up in my tiny room at my housing complex where I work in Saudi. Not being in a band I didn't feel the need to have super-expensive and desirable gear. I had a couple of Ibanez S-470s, a 57 Reissue Strat that I pimped into a Gilmour Black Strat copy - into a Zoom G7 multi-effects and on to a Fender Blues Jr. Then I moved abroad to earn money to pay off my considerable debt and save for a deposit for a flat. However earning half-decent money has brought about a kind of mental illness. It all started when I decided that whilst digital multi-effects were fine for modulation, delay etc, I really wanted a kick-ass distortion tone. So after trawling forums and listening to YouTube clips I settled on a Wampler Triple Wreck and lo and behold, one appeared on eBay that very week.

Then I decided I wanted my ideal guitar. Then a G-System. Then a cool amp set-up. Then I decided I wanted to have a 2-amp setup with the G-System outputting my dirty patches to a great sounding heavy amp and clean patches to a great sounding clean amp. Then more stomps. A month ago I had accumulated (bear in mind as this stuff as been sent to my Mum's house in the UK I actually haven't even SEEN any of it yet!) the following:
PRS Custom 24 10-top
AKG WMS 450 Pro Wireless System
Morpheus DropTune
Sonic Research ST-200 Turbo Tuner
Fulltone Clyde Deluxe
TC Electronic G-System
TC Electronic Nova Drive
Ernie Ball VP JRs (a 6180 for volume and 6181 for expression)
Wampler Triple Wreck
Wampler Pinnacle 2
Keeley-Ibanez TS808 Plus Tube Screamer
Peavey 6505+ Head
Roland JC-120
CIOKS DC-10 Power Supply
I also got a couple of pedals to come live with my G7 and Roland MicroCube me here in Saudi:
ProCo RAT '85 Whiteface Reissue
Little Big Muff
Keeley and Diezel modded Boss MT-2 Metal Zone
There I thought I was gonna stop. I knew nothing about fuzz (except I got the LBM coz I like playing Pumpkins from time to time). However as I was stumbling around forums such as this reading up the differences between a Wampler Plexi-Drive and a Fulltone OCD I started to hear about fuzz pedals that actually sounded really interesting. I had messed a bit with the fuzz-face and Big-Muff sounds on the G7 but never considered buying another fuzz pedal. The more I read and the more I listened to YouTube demos the more I realised I NEEDED fuzz in my life. So I made the plunge and ordered my first... a Pharaoh. Excellent - I'm sure I've made the right choice! I turned my attention back to my amps and decided if I was gonna do this 'one amp for dirty, one for clean thing I should do a bedroom sized version - so the Blackstar HT-5 Mini stack was ordered, to go with my Blues Jr in my bedroom, whilst for band situations I can go with the 6505+ (teamed with the ENGL E212V Cab that is soon to be on it's way) and the Roland Jazz-Chorus. There - sorted!
However, shortly after ordering the Pharaoh I realized that great as it must be, maybe I needed a fuzz-face clone for those Hendrixy moments. Another eBay search for a week or so and I have an Analgman Sunface (BC183) on the way. However after realizing this won't play well in the G-System loops as it will be after my wah I decided I needed another fuzz for those Gilmour Dark Side solos. So now I have a Skreddy Lunar Module on the way. Phew! I'm finished! It's over. I can go back to being a human again! Except I couldn't. The Pharaoh promises much and the 2 fuzz face clones will be fantastic I'm sure, but being a big Mastodon and Pumpkins fan I figured I NEEDED a proper Big Muff-type pedal. I spent ages reading reviews and listening to demos (remember there is one music shop here and it sells just one effect - a Zoom G2 so no try-outs!) and was going back and forth between the Musket, Hoof and Pig Mine. Then I read about this beast called the LSTR that sounded even more monstrous than Wampler's Leviathan - and I just HAD to order it. Except now I look a bit fuzz-heavy and I've really always been more of a metal player so my distortion collection looks a bit poor by comparison - better order a Wampler SLOstortion at the same time. Huge sigh of relief. NOW I'm finished. No more. I can have other thoughts in my head. I won't wake up trying to decide if I really need another pedal to finish the project. Would the Timmy or Wampler Ecstasy improve my collection? (Not really an overdrive pedal guy and I have the amp overdrive plus the TS808 and Nova Drive. I decide just to have a trawl through some Pharaoh and LSTr reviews, find out the best order for stacking, which of my other pedals they will play nice with etc. I get some useful info - I'm really looking forward to stacking the Lunar Module into the Pharaoh. And then I read about another pedal. It sounds even nicer than the Timmy and the Ecstasy. Just a quick listen on YouTube won't hurt, surely?
Outcome? Black Arts Toneworks Black Forest ordered at 2am last night. Please, please, please let this be over now. No more checking eBay. No more obsessing over what size Pedaltrain I'm gonna need for half of this stuff. Never mind the fact that I came here to pay off debt and save for a place of my own, never mind that my PayPal account is linked to my credit card and not my bank account and my credit card company keeps calling to ask if I've been the victim of fraud. Never mind that I'm gonna have to live in this sandpit for years in order to pay for this lot (and during this time all I'll get to do is VISIT my gear for a few weekes a couple of times a year). And then I'll still have to go home and live in a tent in my Mum's back garden. Some people fall foul of drugs. Till I started reading these forums I never knew there was a name for my problem. But without coming on these forums I probably would never have developed such a debilitating case of GAS. I blame the lot of you. I hope you all feel guilty - of feeding my obsession, fuelling my cravings and making me believe I cannot live without just one more (insert boutique pedal of choice here).
As one brand new member sending a greeting to the whole lot of you - I hate you, you're all bastards!
love Glee
P.S. So is the Timmy really good?
