Something that is more tweak-able than a 3-4 knob standard delay, but nothing like a timefactor or timeline or anything. & I'd like it to sound real purdy and do something interesting (expression pedal, weird modulation, sound-on-sound, reverse, etc.). I'd mainly be using it for ambient/atmospheric/noisy/lush stuff.
Right now, I have my sights sets on an el cap. But before I pull the trigger in the next few weeks, I figured I'd see if anyone could show me something cool I haven't seen/thought of. & if anyone knows where I can get a Space Time Continuum, let me know.
Let's see 'em

Oh, and no to a deluxe memory boy. I had one (and a standard memory boy) and while it had awesome features, the repeats were too muddy & distorted (in a bad way).
Take a look at the Lunar Echo (DMB) or maybe a Superdelay (Empress).

I have one of these. wfs1234 (sorry if I just mangled your name) has one as well.
http://www.muzasound.com/guitareffects_fd900.htmlGot it for $100 on amazon. It's a decidedly digital sound, for better or worse. The reverb sounds pretty good to me. It sounds closer to, like, an RV-3 or something than a more "natural" reverb. It's good for TEH GAEZ. You can set both delay and reverb to be 100% wet, there's reverse verb/delay, plate/spring (complete with "hey you just kicked my tank" fake spring sounds)/hall/church with super long verb times, verb tone...
There's tap tempo, you can toggle trails on/off, and the delay portion has a 12-second looper, so you can set up your droney gazey shit and run it through the verb.
One weakness of it is that it isn't true bypass, and sometimes if you have the mix knobs turned up with the effect off, there's a faint hum. I don't think it's something you would notice unless it's dead quiet, but it's still there.
I like that one of its selling points is "delicate appearance"

The enclosure is metal, not plastic like it might appear.

Or an Echolution. Those are your options.

Fun fact: if you run a Lunar Echo into an Echolution it makes windchime noises.

El Cap is seems to tickle my fancy more than all of these, at least from demos.
Although the Muza could be something fun to pick up in the future.
Thanks guys

Ahhh you know I did just watch that video recently. I really do like that filtery sound it can get.
Though it's more expensive than the el cap, and not as tweakable.
& those run away switches almost always go too fast, which is really a shame cuz it's such a cool feature.
What was that delay that you just got yourself? The white-moogerfooger-esque one?

Yeah right, almost forgot about that one. It's an odd beast:
Koma BD101I'd say that thing is definitely catered towards noisy stuff. It's really prone to oscillate and at the longer delay times you get out of it the signal will get distorted. They claim this is due to pushing the chip over it's limits. While it can definitely be noisy I'd say it's hard to get this to sound lush. While the ElCap always sounds lush and I'd like to find a way of setting it to a little 'colder' from time to time. What is really awesome about the Koma is that IR sensor that they use for CV control. It measures distance. So it works in a similar way to one of those light sensitive Resistors (as in the Moody Mushroom Echo - that one is really nice too, but not so many knobs) but you don't need a light source or anything. It will just read the distance and make a CV signal. And what's really great about it is that the CV is compatible to anything I tried it with. Fairfield Audio, Moog, Knas. It worked like a charm.
