Man, lots of good stuff today! Finally got some hands on and some good video I think...going to go put it on the computer and do a full write up!

Met the co-creator of the Spin FV-1 (and Alesis Quadrasynths!)...he's doing pedals now...more in a bit!

Yea, saw those! I wasn't sure what was inside...but they looked nice!

Is it just me or is Stevie Wonder starting to look like Mace Windu?

If it's not just me, he's using the Force in order to avoid those cacti.

Part 1: This one will be kind of a Day One and Day Two Hybrid!

First off: Really huge thanks to Electro-Faustus for getting me into the show! They are freaking awesome and make great stuff. Support them...seriously good people!

Also thanks to Lightning Wave for putting up with me and letting me kick it over at their booth! 'Twas a blast watching people get excited about something as awesome as the Ghost Wave Pedals and the Lightning Bolt.

Thanks to Brian from SS/BS, Andrew from Industrialectric, Aen from Dwarfcraft, Frank from Experimental Noize, and Linus from Teenage Engineering for chatting with an awkward dork like me! Awesome to meet you all. I know the show isn't really for people like me, but thanks for taking the time to talk anyway!

Boss Waza Amp
  • http://www.bossus.com/promos/waza_amplifier .. It looked nice and boss like. Swappable preamps kinda like those old Randalls (but boss style...might be wrong but that was the impression I got) 150watts...no one was allowed to touch it as far as I could tell...like they brought in dudes to demo (probably for loud reasons).
Roland
  • I finally got to play around with the System 1 and the boutique...the boutique knobs are so tiny...everything kinda had this digital sheen to it and like a reverb overtone...They kinda weren't my thing and I think the Korg Stuff outshines them in sound (but maybe not build quality...Roland has that down).
Fender/Jackson/Gretsch/Charvel/Etc
  • Fender kept refused everyone entry until a specific time...only invited guests. Don't know?
Gibson/Epiphone
  • Everything they had was available for demo by anyone! Got to play a Gibson for the first time and the first time I touched an Epiphone in the last 15 years. The Gibson was a Firebird with that autotuner thing (which really made it balance weird). The Epiphone was somekind of Casino or something. Really prefered the finish and play on the Epiphone...but I liked the way the firebird sounded through headphones!
Cooler stuff is coming in the next one!

Part 2: The Korg/Vox/Arp Update!

ImageImage
Arp Odyssey!
  • Haven't played one in years, but it was just like I remembered it! One of the few ring mods on site...
ImageImage
Weird Vox Guitars
  • I dunno, they just look weird. And have built in effects or something. :idk: They are like cybernetic wood I think.
ImageImage
The Real Korg Gem: Vox Tube Organ!!!!
  • Made with the nutube tube on a chip they debuted last year! Vox Continental tube organ with presets and digital control (it looks like)...pretty neat, but no touching.
ImageImage
Volca FM
  • Sounded awesome! my favorite volca to mess with yet! Was really easy with all the presets and stuff (and the text)...what's with the "ok go" sig model of the sample though?
Image
Minilogue
  • Didn't get to play it (this was at the EQD booth). People seemed really impressed by it. None of it's voices, filters or anything are based on any other product and it was developed from scratch. Under some lights it looks weird with the finish. Kinda dirty or something. :idk: Will play one someday haha.

I just sold a pedal, I think I'm gonna buy a Guitardämmerung now.

Good that you found a ring mod.

Yeah, that Vox organ looks neat. I'd like to hear how it sounds. :snax:

I would like to know what happened to the Music Man reissues. It was my understanding Ernie Ball was having these built in Italy, and at least a few were made available for Musikmesse '14 and then they disappeared without notice.

They haven't done an update to their FB page in almost 11 months.

https://www.facebook.com/musicmanamps/

This page seems to be dead.

http://www.music-man.com/amps

I scrolled through some other boards like this MM enthusiast page and they had nothing.

http://www.pacair.com/mmamps3/forum

In August this video preview was done. It seems odd that EB would be sending these out for reviewers, if they weren't planning to continue with production. ----But if they're still in-development, then why haven't they done any posts to support the thing in almost a year?

Part 3: Random Modular!

Pittsburgh Modular/Lifeforms
  •
Note: Modular at the end of video was cool...but know nothing about it (it isn't pittsburgh)

Also, I don't think the presets were patched or something...to much really going on (holding a camera) to really get in-depth!

Really really fun though. Love the controller (but it seemed like a whole bunch of companies had some form of touch pad). Really a blast to play and easy.

There was nothing I saw in the booth...it was more a parade of the people the sponsor. John Petrucci was there like talking about his lifetime deal with Ernie Ball or something. They seemed to be all about signature stuff.

More in a bit! Gotta go kick it with the wife for a minute!

That Vox organ looks pretty awesome. Want to hear a demo of that.

Is the ARP update just cosmetic?

No update...just wanted to play one...also if I go too long with out ring mod I have to find the darkness like an evil Hanna-Barbera Birdman.
