Re: Let's see your BASS VI, people
Anyone have any bright ideas on replacing the bridge pickup in the pawnshop model? The jbe pickups seem rad, but I haven't heard any demos. Would one of those jm sized whrbs work well?

Cool! This might be exactly what I need.
Played a solo gig with the new bass vi last night. hyper fuzz > death metal > memory boy > echo dream 2 > dd6 set to reverse > ditto x2. Psychedelic Doomgaze heaven.
I want another woolly fuzz for it though, can't seem to dial in a clear enough sound with my muffs. Any good suggestions? Thinking about getting a buzzaround.

Nice!
My wife may be going to Georgia Tech next year. If so, we're moving to ATL and you and I might have to kick out the dual bass VI jams.

Has anyone blocked the trem on your VI? A buddy of mine insisted that I need to do it. I don't really know why, or what benefit it would have. He was just so insistent.
I don't really use the trem on mine, but I also don't want to do anything crazy to it.

Thought never crossed my mind. I like the trem. I use it. And it's part of the offset sound anyway

Some people can't handle the offest vibrato / have bought into the "inherently unstable" bullshit...

Re: Let's see your BASS VI, people
It's not so much bullshit has a massively over exaggerated sentiment. Most of the time, it's just a matter of proper setup. The minimal exception is when some part is defective, but most often that can be fixed for cheap (new spring most of the time).
But that's the only trem I like.

He hasn't played or heard it. He was just like "you don't need that stress in your life."
I didn't feel stressed until he brought it up!

i blocked mine. took the spring out of it, flipped the nut over and screwed it back in with some washers sandwiched between the plates.neonblack wrote:Has anyone blocked the trem on your VI? i LOVE offset trems, my main guitar always has one, but i found at least on my VI it was useless. blocking it off improved the sustain and tuning stability a little bit, not a lot but enough to justify doing it since i wasn't using it.
if you know you're never going to use it, turning it into a hardtail is going to be beneficial in some way or another but it's not absolutely necessary. it's mainly the squier trem units that aren't 100% stable as-is.

Are the pawn shop vi's any better quality wise than the squiers? Thinking of picking one up Friday but no one around me has stock so it would be an internet order situation....

Re: Let's see your BASS VI, people
If I am going super crazy and bending up a lot, it can get kinda dicey if I don't push it back down. But if binding use it much/lock it in the down position it's totally fine. It should also be noted that Inhave a stock bridge in mine, but flipped backwards. I can't imagine not using it, it's an integral part of the way I've been using it!neonblack wrote:Has anyone blocked the trem on your VI? A buddy of mine insisted that I need to do it.
