I just think as far as the Daniel Craig Bonds go, Casino Royale was way better than the rest
I loved License to Kill but I am really not a Bond aficionado so I really can't comment on most of them. Except Moonraker being awful in the best way

i dunno if it's over rated, since it's sort of indie. but Dead Man's Shoes was not as good as i'd hoped and been led to believe. some cool scenes and that guy that played Johnny Quim from Rock 'n Rollah was good as a spastic, but not the most engrossing revenge movie. might have helped if the british slang heavy dialogue had subtitles. when 4 or 5 of them were yelling it's just all LOL WAT.
i dug Sauna though.

Yeah, but steam rolling period pieces to be PC just isn't cricket to me. They exist to remind us that shit was once racist, sexist etc. and that we are at least attempting to move away from that.
With the Conan shit though, I think the point is to basically make people realise that it would be an awful universe for women en masse, and people generally, as life seems pretty dismal there in the Hyberian age. But, it also serves to highlight how KICK ASS the strong female characters must be to become more than a concubine/cum bucket to some warlord/slaver.
I think people forget that without civilization, life ain't pretty.
Which is the point of Conan.

You know, I think that's a better way to think of it, I like that.

I know it's a ha ha but I've never seen those, if they came out when I was 13 maybe but no...
I feel that a lot of these superhero movies and movies based off my 1980's toys should have come out in the 1980's...
I'm underwhelmed if that's a word, I know it's not cause I looked it up...

My favourite Bond film ever. Casino Royale was everything I saw in Ian Fleming's stories and characters, and I was a huge Bond nerd when I was younger.

I was flipping channels recently and watched a bit of Goldfinger for the first time ever. Was kinda shocked to see James practically rape a female character in a horse barn. She clearly said "no" several times and finally gave in after being physically threatened, pushed, and thrown around by James. I was under impression he was smoother than that lol...
Yeah, ten years ago most wouldn't have noticed it, and certainly not when it was filmed, but nowadays it's really not an appropriate scene. But then again, Bond is a remorseless killer. Not to say that rape isn't awful, but killing mass amounts of people, that's pretty fucked up.

Dead Man's Shoes is fantastic, and if you didn't like it then I guess you'd say it's overrated. That film always makes me shiver. It's fucking astonishing.

+100
Although Bond and Conan aren't exactly true representations of the past, pretending like the past didn't happen, in all its variations and interpretations, is not what human should do. We have history books full of violence and depravity and the greatest art is rampant with debauchery and gruesome behaviour, yet it's still considered art and looked up to as inspirational and important. Although Bond or Conan aren't arguably as important as an 18th Century painting, it is to others, and who are we to deny them that just because it's not appropriate any more?

hurm. i didn't dislike it, i dug a few parts like his breakdown reveal at the end, but mebbe i missed a bunch with the accents being so thick that during Everybody Yell NOW scenes i only catch a third or so of dialogue?
and i'm decent at euro accents usually, i don't need subs for Trainspotting and the ilk.
