I want an electric piano/digital piano/synthesizer with weighted keys.
It doesn't have to be all of those three things, but I mainly want either electric piano tones or basic oscillator tones (or both).
Melodies and soundscapes.

Anyone have any suggestions? New or used... I've looked at Nord's but they're hella expensive, kinda wanna scope out an old rhodes or something if it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to transport/service.

On actually in the same boat I've been looking for a module to go with my m-audio controller.

All the demos I've seen of the lil phatty have sounds I really don't find enjoyable. All like, harsh/lead sounds.
& it's monophonic. Which is cool in it's own right, kinda, but I'd definitely need polyphony.

I always feel like looking for synth demos is ridiculously hard; it's like looking for pedal demos if the only ones you could find were slap-bl00z-metal solos.

That's a really good point. A lot of the sounds I'd want out of a synth aren't ones that are usually shown. The Nord Wave looks pretty bad ass in most of the demos I've watched (at least through being able to get some nice sounds and ease of use), but again that shit's expensive.

nord wave is sweet. if you want a relatively cheaper nord option, go for the nord electro 2 rack - they're around $500-750 and you can use whatever controller you want.
