All non-Harris bass should sound exactly like this (or Lemmy).

I've been play'n bass with flats since... 92... I have almost always had another bass with rounds for all them dumb rounds sounds but.. I always get annoyed by the squeaking and lack of punch/force... now that I'm building a 7 strang 'm going with half rounds... and a unwound high F

I do find it amusing in a odd way that the flats on my P bass [last string change was I think 96] are older than some of our members

So am I weird for thinking this has justice syndrome? I do agree we need more Lemmy tone but everybody who attempts it gets it wrong! Just old guys who use either too much low end or too much gain. Heard some guy on a pedal facebook using a boss ob-3 into a bass big muff and it was cringeworthy. Sound techs should just let people crank their superbass again

it's very audible but not heavy or particularly good sounding to my ears, but that's live show + youtube. Totally agree Gorguts bass normally sounds great.

yeah, the whole compulsory bass DI into PA thing needs to die. get some decent amps in, and the club won't need those fucking subwoofers under the stage.

Duck Dunn said in a 70s
Guitar Player interview that he'd had the same strings on his bass since he bought it new (assumedly in the late 50s) other than one he replaced when it broke.
which reminds me that in a 2010s story on the Rolling Stones the writer noticed bits of confetti in the snare drum; when he asked where it came from, Charlie said "probably Hyde Park." which is to say that he hasn't changed his snare drum heads since 1968.

I am in the old bass strings club. They just sound and feel good.
