I listened at work today.

I dug it a fair bit. But I wasn't paying attention, which isn't really fair to what is one of my favourite bands. Will have to sort that out.

Full disclosure: I'm a total "no objectivity available" Bongzilla fanboi and have been for a real long time.

But... I think it sounds pretty much like Bongzilla!

Sucks Cooter decided to retire, but I think keeping the band a three-piece instead of finding another bassist was the right call.
So my buddy and I are Bongzilla friggin’ die hards. We saw them with like 12 other people in 2002-ish and have seen them a number of times over the years. He texted me the other day saying the pre-orders were available and he was so excited and I thought “okay fuck it I’m not gonna be a stick in the mud about this” and went in on an order together. I get home, check the song out and it’s pretty damn good. I’m excited! It’s basically the only doom album I’ll probably buy this year, so hopefully it’ll be hella sick.

Meeeeeh listened to it 2 times over the weekend but it really didn't caught me. The second part of the album - from the song with Lanegan (which doesn't sound particularly inspired anyway) - is a bit better. Wave after wave is probably the best song on it, but still not quite as good as I would expect.

I don't know which one of you Nitrx-members posted this over the weekend, but i'm enjoying it. The snare is particularly different from the typical death-related productions, it sounds goooood

Huh new Mogwai. Will stick that on today.

Just heard that someone from dodecahedron (IDK the circumstances I guess they split) is in a band putting out an album under a new name later this year: https://autarkh.bandcamp.com/releases

If you’re called tindersticks I’d expect you to be blasting until your drumsticks are tinder.

Non metal but Dinosaur Jr dropped that they are releasing an LP in April. I may like the reunion stuff more than the “early classics” (and way more than the non Lou albums) so count me in.

Anyone else listening to the new Nick Cave and Warren Ellis yet?

I kind of struggled through the first song, but I'm digging the rest so far. Will have to give it a few more listens

On the first track now. It's definitely feeling like a bedroom record... but done by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

As a vocalist though Cave is one of those people I could listen to do absolutely anything (like Dan Higgs), so I'm enjoying it as "more Nick Cave", especially since the bad seeds tour has been cancelled so I'm not sure I'll ever get to see him live :(

I'm still so disappointed that tour got cancelled; I was so excited to have tickets!

I felt like the first track was a little disjointed, but overall, I did really enjoy the record. I wish they had a North American shop or that shipping wasn't so ridiculous from their UK shop. Might have to see if I can get the vinyl through a local record store around here.

I quite enjoyed it but wasn't wowed. I guess I'll stick it on again some time to listen a bit closer.
