Reminder I worked in a video store [when they existed] and used to watch USA UP ALL NIGHT as a kid. I can deal w/surreal.
Also TBLT and WFRR are GREAT movies, as a child, as an adult, as a childless adult.

meh. i'll always be an immature little child in many, many ways. i have come to terms with that.
I'LL WATCH WHAT I WANT TO WATCH AND STAY UP AS LATE AS I WANT.
hahahaha
This mostly comes from when my mother and I were at a movie together and I was like 9 or 10 maybe. There was a dude masturbating in the aisle down from us. I was horrified, my mother was as well. So, we obviously reported him and left. It was some kind of Disney movie and he was obviously all alone.
I also found used condoms, whip cream, a flash light, chocolate syrup and a few other disgusting things in a theater after a kids movie where an adult couple were the only people there.
So, I guess my experiences have shaped my opinions somewhat.
You do you.
Women seem to be more into kid movies than men at least in my experience.
My wife asked me if I wanted to go see Finding Dory together and I said "ummm fuck no". So obviously we did not. lol

Peppermint Patty is abusive to both Marcie & Charlie Brown...particularly the latter...who she constantly belittles, arrogantly interrupts and humiliates all while gaslighting him. She's also completely full of shit and unable to admit fault, takes credit for others' work and ideas, is basically a caricature of an entitled, toxic "friend" with a complete lack of respect for others who she attempts to control.
Rewatch
Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown and
Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown and see if you still feel the same way

Some of the core members of the Peanut Gang have always struck me as misfits with various psychological/social problems. Charlie Brown himself seems to be the poster child for clinical depression. Linus has some kind of security/abandonment issues or something that prevents him from going anywhere without his blanket. Lucy is obviously a sociopath, and also plays the dual role of being the group psychiatrist (as well as Linus' chief antagonist), Patty probably has BPD, Schroeder appears to have OCD, and Marcie is clearly a lesbian, which back then was probably still considered a mental disorder. Pig Pen is the poor kid I guess, which isn't a mental problem per se but can lead to the development of an inferiority complex.
This is the kind of shit that I've thought about since I was about 12. Probably says more about me than Charles Schulz.

Why didn't they call them Ore-O's?
Well, the answer is that some marketing asshole said they need the full name of the product in it...
Blurp. Ok, less cynicism. I'm trying not to do that.
I'm also trying to watch as many Christmas specials as I can this season. So far, I've watched (yes I'm keeping track in a file):
- Pee Wee's Christmas Special
Garfield Christmas
Arthur's Perfect Christmas
The Christmas Tree
The Legend of the Candy Cane
Christmas at Mole's
Family Circus Christmas
The Gloworms Christmas
The Wish that Changed Christmas
Christopher the Christmas Tree
The Christmas Tree Train
The Teddy Bears Christmas
The Berenstain Bears' Christmas Tree
The Naughty List
Bluetoes The Christmas Elf

Marcie isn't a lesbian, she's a thoughtful, heady sadgirl and the only female in the gang who treats CB with regular decency. At one point in the cartoon's history, she had something of a crush on CB, a plot device in a short where she & PP went away to summer camp and Marcie began writing letters to CB and PP got jealous when CB wrote back, then realizing her feelings for him. The theme of PP having a crush on CB while bullying him and/or inviting herself on dates, to holiday dinner & events spans movies, shorts and decades. In
Bon Voyage, CB Marcie becomes romantically involved with their French host, Pierre...while PP is convinced Pierre is crazy about
her when again, it's her who is into him
There is def depth to the characters, even the loathsome ones.

Proof that people can come to their senses. It's either Marcie for women characters or Pig-Pen for the men, they are the only logical correct answers at the end of all this

Pigpen was my 2nd fav behind Snoopy [esp Joe Cool]. He, Linus & Franklin were the male characters who were (at their default) good to CB.
Shroeder was 50/50 because of his Aspergers; rarely initiating bullying or dogpiling CB but regularly matter-of-fact critical with deadpan delivery. Dude seems sincere...like he mostly wants to be left alone to channel Beethoven. His dynamic with Lucy is so damn entertaining.
