Fuck man, I hate it when child no 1 brings home gastro and you get to play gastro dominos.
To be fair I think I bought this one home.
I'm not 100% certain but I think the origin may have been the Ekka.
Which is not surprising

With what it costs for daycare and my travel schedule it's cheaper for my wife to stay home with little dudes than work at this point.
US Americans get jammed on this stype of stuff like crazy
Gastro dominoes is the worst, my oldest started hurling on Sunday but nobody else has seemed to track it
also: 13 now and still can't find a bathroom to puke in, my kids just go bombs away wherever they are,
I did win a small victory this week at work with the vacay time, had a new employee who has just been killing it, needed to take a day off, hasn't acrued any time yet but got the owner to pay her for it, feel good about that.

Excellent work HB!
Yeah, it's the same situation with pay and daycare for my brother in Australia. Which pretty much means that the primary caregiver's career will never end up doing as well as the other partner. Which sucks.
That's one of the reason starting a family was no big deal for us because we didn't have to make a decision about who would have to put their career on ice - thanks to the social welfare system we have here.

See, and if you hadn't shot down my plan to go chase after that hot Norwegian girl who was at the bus stop, I could be on my way to living that dream, too.

We get maybe four holidays total, and start off with something like 17 days of PTO (once you've gotten past your just-hired probationary period). But it's all measured in hours, so I can never keep track. Plus we have this weird time-off-request platform that supposedly keeps track of how many PTO hours you have available, but I just found out that it's not even accurate, and HR somehow keeps track on their own. So I dunno - I ask for time off when I need it, and my boss usually approves it. I typically end up checking emails and sending files around while I'm on vacay, but plan to have at least one long weekend this fall where I am completely offline.

This is one of the reasons I don't understand US pro-lifers not being more socialist (not to derail my bitching about vacation time thread)
You don't have to sacrifice a career to have children it is good for everyone.

That's the plan (coming back, anyway). Also I would have missed TIM! if I had gone for it
and probably failed.

What should I do with my 5 extra days PTO?
I'm a dork and normally just sit around at home or go to a bar down the street.
I need an adventure.

Such a trip would require more time to save up money as it would have to be before the year's end.
So something not requiring air travel. Maybe a staycation, or a couple days in Chicago or something.

I hate everyone. I get no vacation days, no sick leave and no paid holidays and never have. No benefits either of any kind. My wage is decent enough I guess, but it really fucks me if I even do a short tour or take a couple of days for a trip. My wife gets a million hours a year. She works at a state university. She's always irritated at me with how broke I am after every time we take a trip. A long weekend is a pretty big hit for me.
