australia. It's a trend among people who'd go to punk shows but weren't actually crusties. None of them can really play that well but bless 'em they're trying.

Is it likes ome Inepsy style where they couldn't have actually played the genre they love, but as a punk band aping that style they are wonderful?

nah. You know how scenes find a thing every eighteen months and people reinvent themselves towards it? Bit like that. Still better than pretending to be a skinhead.

The dick slip is the only move that trumps the nip slip.

I am all for interesting or provocative confrontation or transgression (in fact i love it), but too many bands are content to rehash things that stopped being new or exciting before i was fucking born. Back when i was living in a punk house it was like, what page out of the early 80s hardcore handbook am i gonna see tonight? Oh, some band thought it was cool and funny to use racial slurs, or break bottles, or call me a faggot, or throw furniture, or start a fight, etc. etc. etc. Now I have to clean up/kick someone out/cry on the roof alone. Transgression, by its nature, should be the opposite of anticipated, it should be carefully calculated based on the space in which it is occurring. If it is not only predictable, but expected by the audience, it just becomes... well, to me, boring.

That said i used to flail around in hardcore bands, but usually because i am a bad bassist.
I agree, and we're all queer and the bar owner saw it fit to use a ton of slurs in the process of confronting us. That said, being provocative and loud Is a huge part of stage presence for us so it's on the venue owner to research what they book
BR, that is abysmal.

First gig my band ever played we ended up ending the night for everyone cause our gear nearly caused a power outage. The owner also blamed us for the knife fight that happened outside (not us) and for drinking in the parking lot (sort of).

10/10, massive party afterwards. Got us some notice early on locally. No one really cared ether since the venue owner has a rep for being a huge tool.

Seems to be the running gag tho to this day. Every time we play a gig some sort of trouble seems to be going on. Guess we bring out the evil in people.

We've got a bunch of those dudes here too. They got all pissed recently because one of the local venues canceled a Boyd Rice show once they looked into him a bit. Now they're screaming about censorship and how everyone is out to bring them down blah blah blah.

One time my band got booked to play a club and it wasn't until we got there that we found out it was a christian club several nights a week. The soundguy kept coming in on the mic warning us about cussing. After the third time he cut the singer's mic so we just made a bunch of noise and left. We had another show later so it worked out.

Oh god, the controversy when Cold Cave brought Boyd Rice on tour. I don't miss those people/days. Boyd Rice is a shitbag unworthy of the very atoms that comprise his body.

Back in High School (we must have been 16 or 17), we got a support slot at a decent venue in the city, and sold a bunch of tickets. Despite bringing a big chunk of the backline (and having fake ID), both the drummer and the bassist got kicked out immediately after we finished for not being 18. I managed to get away with it as I had a beard (that's my theory anyway), but it seemed pretty ridiculous at the time.
