imagine trying to sell it to the masses.

Boring Info Post.

i've been trying for a while to "properly" get into the Medical Cannabis Deal .. here in Canada.

here's Our rules.

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/marihuana/index-eng.php

here's the way i see them ( using someone else's comment from the Lift / cannabis website )

"Anything where the patient is manipulated is unethical. Not disclosing referral fees is one such manipulation.

Profit is the real problem here. If the MMPR is truly about the medicine, then the current corporate system would not be in place. Companies exist for one reason: to make money. Full stop. Despite many good intentions of helping sick people, each and every LP exists for the purpose of making money. And lots of rich investors have put lots of money into companies to try to get in on the ground floor.

They know that when recreational marijuana becomes legal in Canada, and it will, soon, they can be in a commanding position to greatly accelerate their sales. As well, as far as I know (because their is a distinct lack of transparency, and a paucity of solid information), many LPs ship product to the USA.

Make no mistake; Canada is being looked at as a reasonable location by companies to base marijuana sales worldwide.

Are referral fees unethical? No, not allowing patients to treat their own ailments, with medicine they know will work for them, in unethical.

Making profit off of illness is sickening, quite frankly"

and. Here's what ONE LP is doing to Remedy the above ^

Tilray Launches New Industry Association and Code of Ethics for Canadian Medical Cannabis Producers
By tilrayportal 06/02/2015

CMCC

In an effort to advance the highest standards within Canada’s medical cannabis industry, Tilray has founded a new association, the Canadian Medical Cannabis Council (CMCC), to represent licensed producers and other industry stakeholders who are committed to building long-term trust with patients.

Following several unsuccessful attempts to persuade the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA) to adopt a Code of Ethics that mandates a commitment to safety, transparency and avoidance of conflicts of interest, Tilray has terminated its membership with the CMCIA. While we are disappointed to end this relationship, we feel that the CMCIA and its members have failed to serve the best interests of Canadian patients.

Core to our decision to severe ties with the CMCIA is our belief that patients are best served when treatment choices are made without financial influence or incentive. Without effective industry self-governance by the CMCIA, several licensed producers are currently engaging in the practice of providing direct or indirect financial incentives to physicians for issuing medical documents and/or referring patients. This practice raises serious conflict of interest concerns and is expressly prohibited by provincial Colleges of Physicians. Tilray has never and will never compensate physicians for referrals or patient authorizations, as kickbacks increase costs to patients while compromising patients’ options in choosing a licensed producer.

The newly formed CMCC reflects our long-term commitment to accountability to patients. The CMCC’s Code of Ethics is based on six fundamental and non-negotiable principles: safety, integrity, quality, access, security and research. All licensed producers and other industry stakeholders are invited to be members as long as they agree to abide by the CMCC’s Code of Ethics.

While the CMCC is searching for an independent executive director, Tilray’s Vice President of Patient Research and Services, Philippe Lucas, will serve as interim Executive Director.

“We believe our industry must recognize that a commitment to ethics and the highest standards of safety, transparency and research is the only viable way to build patient trust and establish our industry as a legitimate contributor to Canada’s healthcare system,” explains Lucas.

“We are hopeful that other licensed producers will realize this and join our effort, and that patients will benefit from a more ethical, accountable approach and organization.”

Every time I've smoked lately it's been super lame, just felt anxious, over hesitant, lazy and sad. Gonna give it a rest for awhile. A lot of my friends have the same experience and have stopped smoking all together. I really wish it was as fun as it used to be.

I think the medical benefits are pretty tremendous.

As a purely recreational user, I enjoy it because it allows me to put on headphones and listen to jams.

I was burning weeds on the driveway gravel today, and every once in a while I hit a patch with something resinous in it and something akin to that certain smell wafted up and I'd get a little contact deja vu.
