Flip one, put cheddar cheese on, then put the second bread on top.
The residual heat starts melting the cheese while the other sides toast.
After each side is toasted, add more butter.
Throw shredded cheddar cheese into the skillet and put the sandwich on top.
The cheese will get crispy and coat the outside of your sandwich.
The cheese is kinda like what's on the edges of the crust of a pizza.
Do this on both sides.

You end up with:
Crispy cheese
Toast
Cheese
Toast
Crispy cheese
 I have to try this.

I will also join the "ketchup is gross" party. Bleck.

Ketchup is ok. Just ok.
I dip my fries in mayo.
Mustard is best.
Besides hot sauce.
Sontava xxx habanero.

You made me do it, and I thank you.

Wheat bread, gauda, cheddar, bacon, tomato and dijon mustard. Glass of grapefruit juice. Feels good man

Honestly I do this most nights. I have a flat griddle built into my stove that makes the perfect grilled cheese. Set it to 375 degrees and use cheddar slice on each side with a piece of something else in the middle. BUtter the bread and toss some dijon inside.

my fav is the vanilla G.C.
straight up plain white bread, Kraft slices and tub butter.
2 of my G.C. secrets
........use melted butter and brush onto bread, much better coverage and saturation
..........tiny bit of salt on one side of the bread after it's fried. popcorn salt works well.
makes it so much better than normal.

Also, another thing.......when using a heartier cheese (real cheese).......you can fry the cheese first...brown it up a little.......put it in the bread then fry the bread.

I like other ingredients in my grilled cheeses, but then it becomes a grilled sandwich with cheese.
grilled BLTC is bad ass.......well, just texas toast with BLT stuff inside with cheese. I always put a bit of pepper inside too.

SHREDDED CHEDDAR JACK SPRINKLED OVER A SLICE OF AMERICAN. BUTTER THE BREAD. BUTTER THE CRUST. 400 DEGREES ON DA ELECTRIC FLAT SKILLET. SINGE IT SO IT LOOKS DARK BROWN SO ITS CRISPY ON THE OUTSIDE BUT SOFT ON THE INSIDE. THE CHEESE MELTS EITHER WAY MAN.

MAKE TOMATO SOUP, PUT A MODERATE AMOUNT OF BASIL IN IT WHILE ITS COOKING. MAKE IT WITH MILK, NOT WATER. IF YOU MAKE IT WITH WATER, I HATE YOU.

DIP IT IN THE SOUP. EVERY BITE. AT SOME POINT YOU'LL THINK "maybe I should just not dip it for this one bite, just to see what its like." NO. DIP IT. DON'T HESITATE OR IT'LL GET COLD.
HELL YEAH MOTHERFUCKIN RIGHT

Ok for the realz!

GOOD sourdough bread [the kind that you have to cut your self, otherwise it is shitty bread and you lose in life]
Cheddar sharp enough to make you cry
cook either in buttered pan or if lazy PUT IN TOASTER OVEN!
eat with ketchup

There is no other option.

Other options include using whatever bread and cheese you have and putting that in a toaster oven and eating with ketchup.
