Why not charge a small fee for the b/s/t section? This site is where I want to say ~90% of all my gear purchases/trades come from. I've also bought things for friends and bandmates. There's really a selection of stuff from like-minded musicians that you can't find anywhere else.

donated. Is there a way to set up a paypal subscription or something like that? I do that for another site, just chuck them a small amount ($6.66) each month. If a lot of people do that it adds up.

This place is the only place I really hang out, and I don't even know what I would do without all my fuzzy dvdes and dvdettes... Donated, and as much as you hate the idea Tom -- I would totally pay an annual subscription to help keep this place alive.

Definitely down for that. Gonna make a contribution next pay.
I think if there's a way to get away from this bullshit we should definitely do it.
If google are offended by anything we post here they really need to fucking check themselves.
Pretty sure if I wanted to I could look up some very questionable material of an exploitative nature using their search engine.
Also, wasn't this the same company that voluntarily blocked access to searches related to Tiananmin Square in 2009 so they could keep feeling China fill them up with money, Instead of having one fucking iota of integrity and not rolling over like a bitch?
Oh yeah, it was.
Found that out using google.
Clearly they aren't so interested in freedom of speech or information.

This is my way of saying there is no way to stop the bears.

Also down for another belt buckle....

seeing as...

I already got the doomgirl

I will gladly donate (when I get paid) or subscribe to keep this forum going, I hang out and talk more here than i do on facebook or in real life hahaha and if SkyNet errrr I mean Google doesn't wanna run advertisements here then we don't need em!!!

One thing I've seen that seems to work well is the yearly subscription to post in the BST. I would gladly pay $20+ a year to sell / post in the BST, but still keep it free to look at and comment on posts. I hate forums that have a BST that you can't even see or buy from if you don't donate or don't have a high enough post count, its bad for buyer and seller.

echoing what everyone else is saying - i would totally pay a reasonable subscription fee to use the BST or something like that. it would still keep ILF open to everyone but maybe stop people coming here just to try and sell us stuff for more than its worth  it would be nice to know what sort of goal we need to meet to keep this running without being a financial strain on Tom, if we can manage it sustainably and it means the forums are uncensored it would be great.

Maybe set up a kickstarter with progressive tiers to yield various grab bags and assorted goods in return.
$5 gives stickers, higher amounts yield other merch up to whatever etc.
Given the variety and character of the active users...I'm sure there will be hosted builders willing to do a limited run of their pedal of choice, and others willing to donate various gear and services to the pot.
