Minibrute feels way more "analog" than any DSI stuff I've played and it's a bucketload of fun. Some great sounds in there too! Personally I'd avoid DSI stuff. Half-assed firmware, bugs and "quirks" are the order of the day with them from what I can tell/have experienced.

My roommate got a MicroBrute last night. Man that thing is so tiny and awesome. The sequencer is much more useful than a normal arpeggiator and the synth can sound just brutal. Routed the CV out to my MicroMoog and doubled things up with that. Sounds pretty MS20 based on my little experience of listening to the MS20 filter howl.

I didn't want to comment here since I am new to analog synths, but since you're leaning towards the brute, I must say I love my Microbrute and I imagine the Minibrutes are just as rad. I don't really think I need another octave, the octave switching keys make it easy to switch octaves, and if you are still holding the note down it stays in the same octave until you hit a different note.
