So far I am very happy with it. It's a psychedelic machine basically. The inbuilt phasing and trem circuits bring so much to the table it's really hard not to zone out completely. With stuff like a phaser on the normal strings and a slow trem on the harmonics it just kills. I spent an hour lying on my back simply strumming one chord. This thing is a moon of honey.

The neck is very comfortable. To accommodate the third bridge design while keeping normal guitar strings the scale length is quite a bit shorter. It's definitely less than a Duosonic but that makes it really comfortable to play even with the chorused strings. It uses two sets of regular strings, even the bass strings are in unison, I might try a regular 12 string set and octave the bass strings at some point though.

Tonight I will check it out in a band setting. Let's see how it keeps up with the post-punk electro stuff we're playing. (It's definitely not made for this kind of sound, but maybe I can make it work)

Only thing I could complain about is that it's not made for heavy handed playing. Similar to a Jazzmaster / Jaguar but even worse in the respect that strings jump off the saddles if you hit them too hard. To make the third bridge work alright and the harmonics resonate well you need a very low breaking angle which reduces pressure of the string on the bridge, resulting in easy relocation… But well, if that happens there still is a second string around. :)

Once I get to try and give it a setup I might have a second thing to complain about. :D It lies in the nature of the design that it's all dependent upon each other. Once I change the small saddles behind the bridge to tune the strings to my own ideas that also affects the portion on the regular side of things. So there will be a lot of going back and forth there. Also meaning that it will probably not happen all too often. Changing that part up I mean. :D

Overall I have the feeling of a very nicely crafted and thought out Instrument. This is basically the craftsman's version of the Yuri Landman White Eagle I used to have. That one felt like a sketch of an idea compared to this being the full-fledged bells and whistles.

Reporting from rehearsal: I can make it work. But it does not play out its strengths in the setting of the Dazzle Ships. I might do a song or two with it anyway, because I can. And it would be nice to show it off at the next gig.

The Contra? Looks pretty awesome to me. And you can get the true phaser onboard, which I highly recommend.

Yep. Next tax return I'm so down.

What do you think of the neck profile/shape?

I like it a lot. It's flat and wide just how I like a guitar neck. It might be different for a 6-stringer though. Maybe Lewis can adjust the profile to your need.
