I could be wrong but I think most of the bands that write about these topics do so from a mythological/allegorical perspective, as opposed to worshiping underworld beings that they actually believe exist. There are exceptions of course, and plenty of bands who invoke Satan purely for entertainment/ shock value.

Yea all that I always take with a grain of salt, I prefer lyrics that are just interesting in themself to read not really as in the subject matter but how the words are processed and laid together.
