Just bumping because I noticed Bitch Pudding's avatar on another thread.

I never liked MCR. Could never keep them, Panic!, or Fall Out Boy straight, although I've learned to appreciate FOB. And I was totally into emo for a few years there in the early 2000s.

Anyway, last year I heard the first two soundclouds from Hesitant Alien and I randomly pre-ordered it. Like "fuck it, I can never find new rock that I like. I'll hold my nose and jump in. Maybe I'll just like these two songs but whatever..." It turned into my favorite album of 2014! I listened to it every day. Noisy trashy glam rock.

Went back and checked out the old MCR albums. Nope, still very little there for me to latch onto.

Anyway, shoutout to Bitch Pudding. At least you tried, yo.

never liked MCR especially because of his voice and the lobotomized drum grooves

but I'm slowly getting used to it. takes years apparently

his solo album is pretty good though, lots of 90's nostalgia (lists of bands i hear in it, seriously), but it seems very honest and sort of made by a real music fan sort of thing :idk:
pretty good live, too

Yea, Hesitant Alien really surprised me mostly cause of how much of an about face it is sonically from MCR. And of course the ultra fuzzy sound makes me the happy joy joys inside.

Gerard just strikes me as a really honest artist in general, and his work has yet to disappoint me. And as much as MCR is a huge part of my musical DNA, his solo stuff is proving to me that a big part of what I liked about My Chem came from him. Really looking forward to what he does next.
