It's not so much that I like cold weather as much as I hate hot weather so utterly and completely, that I'm ok with cold weather, because I can just say to myself "at least it's not hot out".
I hate being hot so much that it makes me literally depressed in the summer time.

I missed this one first time through. As I've gotten more and more into wine, I've grown to dislike these types of broad generalizations. A lot of friends say things like this too, and in my experience, most of them have never actually had a decent white wine. They try Yellowtail Chardonnay or some terrible Napa Pinot Grigio and then say all white wine sucks. There are some French whites I've had that are miles more complex and awesome than 99% of reds.monkeydancer wrote:
red wine>white wine.
Right, but not all white wines have the same flavor profile, either, so I really don't think you can lump them into any sort of category with any real meaning. I mean, I get that your beer and wine tastes both tend to go towards "the more bitter, the better", but not all white wines are sweet, either. They can be acidic, they can be earthy, savory, all over the board. The only thing you can say about white wines that apply to ALL white wines is that they don't have the tannins that red wines do. If tannins is all you care about in a wine, then OK, I guess that's the only way that "I don't like white wines" is a coherent statement.jfrey wrote:Eh, it may just be my personal taste, but I usually think halfway decent red wines are better than great white wines. I've gone to wine festivals, and wine dinners that are a couple hundred a plate, and I have yet to try a white wine that really grabs me.
That may just go with my beer/coffee preferences though, which I feel like all sort of go hand in hand in some way.
