For years, I always kept one of my guitars in Placebo tuning, which has the two high strings in unison:
FA#D#G#CC

I've been playing with this for the last hour and I love it.

I'm throwing this here because it's the tuning thread.

I've spent hours and HOURS tonight messing with baritone-style tunings trying to figure out the Eagle Twin tone. What the fuck is it? I've tried fifths, fourths, I've tried F C F Bb D A....... nothing gets the right chordal tones. The only thing I haven't tried is octave-down Drop D. But he does it on 25.5" scale guitars sometimes....so is he defying physics, or what?!?!
:idk: :idk: :idk:
Throw some theory up in here.

Most of that tone is 500-600 watts of valve power.

Yeah, I realize that, but it's the notes I think I'm hearing when he plays certain chords, not to mention the huge variety of chord shapes I see him use live. None of it quite sounds like your typical drop tuning-style chords to me. . . When I hit low low notes in fifths tunings, and play just the bottom two notes, it doesn't ring quite right. I've even tried EQing my amps and dirt pedals differently

Why not email him and ask him? I emailed Richard Crandell about his Mbira tuning and he replied with a very detailed breakdown of all his invidual tines.

I've started playing in DADGBD. I always keep the high strings DGBD since I started playing on banjo...Just recently dropped the low E to D. So beefy. :joy:

Currently got my LP junior in CGCD#AD. Probably someone else came up with that tuning before, but i found it cause of a chord i could make in D standard but not drop C...

Aside from the A string, this is the tuning I use on guitar (I just tune it down to G).
Its fantastic :thumb:

But lately I've been having lots of fun with standard tuning on bass. So I should probably just leave... :mope:
