This make the wait harder.
But on their Facebook they talk about shipping to new dealer soon.

I shouldn't have started it... now Shannon have to put lots of stuff in th B/S/T. :p
And I'll probably have to sell stuff too.

Haha, no joke, I've been selling for sure. Trying to thin the herd a bit. Gonna move an amp soon too.

I had a little chat with Mike about those LDRs and this was his response:

"It's not necessary to have complete coverage of the LDRs to 'protect' them from light. The nearest and brightest light source is the other LED - they are pretty close together on the circuit board. No-one normally operates the pedal with the bottom open, and besides that the only other 'light sources' would be unused audio sockets at the rear of the pedal. The light shield is simple, yet handles light exclusion as well as is necessary. So, on one end of the phase sweep (the lowest frequency, which is equivalent to the smallest amount of light), you cannot get any 'improvement').

As for making the LED effectively 'brighter' (by making, say, the bottom of the light shield reflective); this is a constant effect, so that then the smallest amount of light would be bigger, making the sweep range just move towards the top of the frequency range, not actually be extended.

So, IMO, futzing with the light shield / LDR arrangement is not a productive use of time. If someone wants to adjust the sweep - and has an oscilloscope - I can tell them how to adjust the trimpots. I spent some time adjusting each pedal firstly according to the factory-recommended procedure, and then a little by ear."

Oh I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong and they wouldn't work  my main comment was it would have been nice to see a proper machined cover or something, card works though.

I was getting at that it may be possible to acquire different sweeps with a different covering and adjustment of LDR placement.

Here's an original Bi-Phase 'Vactrol' without it's black plastic shield, dual LDRs!

Here's a mock up of how light can hit the LDRs differently with different set ups

I agree, the cardboard does work, I haven't seen the LEDs running though and when I mentioned complete coverage it was because I wondered how much may be reflected inside the enclosure from one LED to the other Set of LDRs or whatever (why I used the prefix 'could') if he's tested for it then he's tested for it :) I don't even bother with covering them a lot of the time in builds as he says, I don't often play with the bottom of the box off.

As for making the LED effectively 'brighter' (by making, say, the bottom of the light shield reflective); this is a constant effect, so that then the smallest amount of light would be bigger, making the sweep range just move towards the top of the frequency range, not actually be extended.

See above for what I meant about reflection, I didn't mean making the LED brighter but how the LDRs receive said light to alter the sweep, again, it wasn't a knock on how it's done, more curiosity to how it may react differently.

So, IMO, futzing with the light shield / LDR arrangement is not a productive use of time. If someone wants to adjust the sweep - and has an oscilloscope - I can tell them how to adjust the trimpots. I haven't seen the factory procedure, might have to go for a little dig, nice to know he's put some proper time in to calibration though rather than just straight by ear.

Nice to get a proper reply from the builder too!

No worries Scruff, I wasn't implying you implied there was anything wrong haha. I'm appreciative of your insight cuz I had no clue what those little cardboard pieces were doing in there. Your explanation helped clear things up for me so thank you.

I'm just ensuring Tompski and anyone else interested that all is well, pedal sounds badass though I'm interested to see how different shield material would react in there.....
