True story, bro.
And you know what was worse?
Spring Breakers
A friend made me watch it. It was absolutely awful.
But Spring Breakers just seems terrible, like the people who made it gave up all artistic integrity years ago. The people who made Gummo are trying hard, but just lack any talent or interesting ideas.
I INTERN AT A FILM FESTIVAL MY OPINION IS THE LAW.
SPOILER : show
nvm the fact that I work in fund development and really don't know anything about film at all
You realize the people who made Gummo, and the people who made Spring Breakers...are one in the same. I wasn't mad at myself for watching it (like I was after Mama), but I could go without ever seeing it again.

behndy, in all seriousness, someone needs to strap you down and go all "good movie" Robot Chicken on your ass.
I WATCH SO MANY FUCKING MOVIES. THAT WOULD JUST BE LIKE A DAY AT WORK SON.

..... it's not good. certain things only have yumminess attached to them because they were experienced at the time they worked, Alien, Star Wars, but i didna watch 2001 until like 7 or so years ago. boooooorrrrrinnnnnnnng.

A decade ago I worked in a video store.....you know, when they existed.
So for a 6 hour minimum wage shift, you sat around watching movies most of the time.
And when the local 24hr diner was sold & renovated, the store also became the supplanted "the spot" where 14-20 year olds congregated and plans crossed paths & meshed.

Some good times, but what the experience really provided was an ideal opportunity to watch complete crap, for free.....without violating copyright laws. In fact, I was being paid to watch crap. And also excellence...

Most of the big budget movies from the past 20 years have been overrated.

But also the shoestring budgets....remember The Blair Witch Project? I think we have a winner...and yeah I agree with whoever it was that said "horror" movies have become a caricature (paraphrasing). They aren't horror, it's just sensationalized, graphic shock-value suspense booooolsheeeeeet. And probably lazy-cgi

Don't like citizen Kane? Try The Trial it's much better. And 2001's my jam, love it.

Alejandro Jodorosky's films are overrated. All of them. Holy Mountain had some cool bits in it, but it was nowhere near as good as it was made out to be.

Also, EVERY 80's MOVIE THAT ISN'T THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BONZAI IN THE 8TH DIMENSION. Horror movies definitely have degraded to an adult version of peekaboo. :(

There is not one tiny ounce of fact in that crappy overrated statement. I'm sorry that you even think like that.

Daniel Day Lewis is the entirety of anything good about that movie. Good premise, bad execution.
