9.5" radius is near going to be a given though, simply because every one of the newer Fender/Squier stuff not aimed at the doctor and lawyer brigade is.

I'd buy it either way.

But if this is for real, even at $500 sign me up.

I don't care what the color is either. Don't care about binding or inlays. Just make it so.

Mustang bridge is nice but intonation can be a little tricky with that 30" Bass VI scale and those big fat strings, detuned no less. You'll just physically run out of saddle travel sometimes as the offset and Mustang bridges are only 0.5" in width. I've seen people get real close on a stock Pawn Shop bridge, almost there but not quite. I hear ya tho, $100+ bridge on a $350 guitar is a big decision. I'm betting these Squires will be built plenty nice but some hardware and electronic upgrades will surely be in order.

I've thought about it and if I do go through with this idea this would be worth it. I would most likely be dropping a similar amount on the pickup and pickguard (well the electronics in general) so I gotta look at it as buying it purposefully for modding, and for probably what will end up being around 600$ for a fully customized bass VI, that ain't bad.

I really hope these have the vintage 7.25" radius, so I can tune it to an open chord and break out the cello bow.

I was thinking the same thing 5 to $600 isn't bad as long as you don't plan on selling it. Also you can spread almost half that over time.

Yeah I could take steps at a time, would probably get the bridge first so I could set it up and test out the bowing idea then move on to the electronics.

$600 for an upgraded Bass VI is a TOTAL fucking steal, just completely unheard of until now. Seems OSG usually knows their shit but $349 is straight blowing my mind.

If this actually happens, an OG styled Bass VI that's both widely available and completely affordable, it should be considered one of the sweetest gifts Fender has ever bestowed upon mankind.

The entire vintage modified offset series that's been coming out has been mindblowing, nobody thought you could get a sub 500$ jazzie or jag for a few years there and then BAM squier hit a home run.

I'm a Jaguar and Jazzbass player so I must give a Bass VI a chance someday. Those who got one, what makes it special for you? Do you use it for rhythm or solo playing? How does it fit into a band situation?

I've been fighting hard against splurging on the current VM offsets. Household budget discipline, I have stuff I should put the money into fixing first, I already have guitars I love -- that sort of thing. But I don't have anything like a Bass VI yet . . .
