I just gotta do it...
for anyone making their own veggie burgers, this is my favourite - it's from a veggie joint called Rebar: http://airyway.blogspot.ca/2009/12/reba ... table.html

HFS

SO. GOOD.

The trick is, to pack 'em really, really tight, once the ingredients are all set. Otherwise, they'll dry out and fall apart in the pan while cooking.
It took me a few tries to get it right. Still good eats though, even if they do crumble a bit...

Oh, yeah...
don't forget the wasabi mayo!!

Yeah, pigs are friends, not food.

I've been vegan for a couple of years (though, I do have to cheat around the holidays in order to not seem rude).

I don't really do fake meats (except smart dogs, which are silly delicious when topped with hummus-- which is a combination that basically guarantees hiccups), but I don't find it hard to find food. I do cook most of my meals, though.

Anyone else go vegetarian and suddenly realize how often people make fun of vegetarians just out of nowhere? That happened to me. I get a bit miffed when people say vegetarians/vegans are preachy because of that. Somehow "No thanks, I don't eat meat" is rude to a lot of people. It's silly.

I think a lot of that is either cultural, lack of education or both.

I eat Vegetarian when I can. I can go without meat if need be, though my family is prone to having Iron Deficency and would just prefer to have a bit of meat rather than pumping the supplements. I need to take Omega 3 pills though, Fish Oil works better for me than Flaxseed. Does anyone here do anything similar?

When I move out and live by myself, I'll give up meat for the most part - its so much cheaper to buy fruit and veggies than it is to buy Meat - especially for meals every night.

true and I think it is because like beliefs some people find the idea of others that reject what they see as the norm uncomfortable...

Yeah,...it's not something that I'd personally do,...but I'm loathed to poke fun at people because of their dietary choices. Especially cause I'm a food service worker and a professional. If I adopt an anti-vegan, anti-gluten free, anti-all the other frees; that just poisons my attitude and alienates potential customers that make the co-op I work in sustainable. Can accommodating people get on your nerves? For sure,...but it's not personal.

Again,...for me,...Local is the only thing that is important. Growing my own produce is also on the agenda and eventually I hope to buy a large piece of property and live off the land. I would rather support local farmers trying to eek out an existence over giant industrial agriculture firms. Eating really should NOT be about profit. When profit enters the equation, ethics fall by the wayside.
