Thanks guys. Good feels :thumb:

Sunn 1200s came in today and as I like to do, I immediately took it apart. It was a dirty filthy little amp on the outside but inside it was pretty clean with only a couple problems.

So there's no FUSE! Kinda unsafe and not good if a tube shorts out and fries the OT. Also the 2 prong cord had to go.

Image

Fixey fix. I was lucky I had an extra fuse holder from another amp project and some extra fuses from when I was getting the soundtronics up and running.

Image

Put it all back together. It came with some sweet MIA 6550's they look like they have a lot of life left in them.

Image

I decided it needed to have knobs, so I removed the one remaining beat up origional one and threw these on. Works for me :)

Here it is in its new home

So I got this chinese ric copy 12 string. I put a new bridge, locking tuners and some aluma 90 riffians and it plays and sounds good.

Image

NOT GOOD ENOUGH CHINA!!!

Still kinda a fugly clown burst and the upper fret access sucks.

DESTROY!

Insert missing pic of guitar on spindle sander here

Image

So I reshaped the lower cut away and its time to get stupid

Image

just sprayed some clear on that and its time to leave it alone for a while.

So now it's time for lots of wet sanding and then polishing.

Blended the new paint with the old fairly well

Did some fret leveling and crowning while I was at it

I just realized i never put the finished pics up. So here we go
Decorative plate=pickguard

I really need to buy a decent camera

Time for a new project!

Picked up someone else's abandoned project for $20

'm not sure what I'll do to it yet. I'm tempted to follow skully's bass project, but I have 90% of the parts to make a normal bass, and color and finish hasn't really spoken to me yet. I'll probably sell this one when done as I have enough basses allready that cover whatever I need sonically.

Anybody have a suggestions? I might go with metal cavity covers again, or make wood ones, not sure yet.

Ordered some aluminum and brass nut blanks. I can go either 6 or 4 string with those and have no spacing issues :)
